GIT not loading any Aircraft files

Starting P3D v5.4 and loading a 3rd party aircraft - Xtreme Prototypes Lear 45. When GIT starts all three LEDs turn green but no aircraft profile is loaded. Just the generic one. The only enabled option is Restart but that doesn't load the profile.

Tried for 3 other aircraft and same problem. How best to resolve please Steve. Log below...

  • A reboot and starting P3D again then GIT did suceed in loading an aircraft profile but with a few errors. A restart appears to have resolved the issue. Latest log attached. Anything of concern?

  • I've found the problem and resolved it.

I set a value of 1000000.000000 for MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE and it had unintended consequences. I was getting black buildings with the default of 100000.000000 and found a post on AvSim that recommended 320000.000000. That resolved the black buildings but others said they had set it to the value I tried. Obviously it has unintended consequences if set too high.

It couldn't load the aircraft profile with that very high value. It reverted to a generic model which is useless. Reverting to 320000.000000 fixed the problem.

Don't ask me why a texture setting should affect a third party program but it did. Any SimConnect experts out there?

  • I've discovered the problem. I use SimStarterNG to launch P3D together with other executables. I had set the AF for GIT to just a couple of LPs and it seems that is not sufficient.

I've now allocated all LPs to it and it loads the aircraft config correctly. Just one question Steve. If I change aircraft a couple of times GIT recognises the first change and loads the relevant aircraft file.

But on second and subsequent changes of aircraft it sticks at Generic. Is that a bug?

  • It will stay Generic unless a PMDG aircraft is loaded that has an SDK. The aircraft name should change once the VC is visible. If it isn't try running it without using SimStarterNG.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Hi Steve. I understand it stays Generic for all bar PMDG. That wasn't the problem. It was the fact it wouldn't change the aircraft name that was the issue. But that was after switching aircraft more than once. Not something I normally do.

For whatever reason SSNG won't launch the new version I installed this morning. Manual launch necessary. Anything changed to cause that? Do you recommend using all available LPs for GIT?
    Cheers,
    Ray (Cheshire, England)
  • I don't know anything about SSNG. The GIT changes for P3D were minor and built in the usual way, so I don't understand why it won't run.

I switch between aircraft all the time and not seen the problem. Can you confirm it started with the new release and that running it manually doesn't solve the problem.

    Thx
    Steve
  • SSNG has a feature that allows you to auto start executables like ActiveSky and GIT. It’s fine when launched manually and it was also fine on my previous computer. I’ve only had this new one a short time and the i9-13900K has 24+ VPs so I suspect it’s just a case of timing and assigning sufficient VPs.

I’ll report back tomorrow with an update.
