FS2020 Feature Status and Usage

Please monitor this forum thread for the latest information on GIT FS2020!

The following GoFlight hardware works with GIT for FS2020 in exactly the same way as with FSX, FSX SE, P3D and X-Plane:

MCPPRO, MCP, EFIS, P8, T8, RP48, LGT, LGT II, GF45, GF46, GF166, WP6, MESM, SECM, DIO, TQ6

Installation
See this link: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/263-installation-fs2020.html

Starting GIT
Due to the current bugs in the Microsoft FS2020 SDK, start GIT after FS2020 has loaded and the menu has appeared, otherwise the aircraft currently loaded will not be identified (see the status tab to check). It's fine if you change the aircraft, but attempting to fly the current aircraft loaded on start-up causes the issue.

Using the MCP PRO and MCP
Whenever you use an aircraft for the first time, go to the MCP PRO or MCP tab, click the Default FS button, then select Device 0 from the drop down and then select ENABLE from the drop down next to it. It will now work, once you move the rotaries, or you can quit GIT and restart it and all the displays will light up.

You only need to do this once, you will never need to do it again for that aircraft.

Using the EFIS, WP6, T8, P8, RP48, GF45, TQ6
These need to be configured manually.

Using the LGT or LGT II
Whenever you use an aircraft for the first time, go to the LGT tab, click the Default FS button, then select Device 0 from the drop down and then select ENABLE from the drop down next to it. It will now work but LED's won't light up unless the gear state changes, or you can quit GIT and restart it and all the LED's will light up.

You only need to do this once, you will never need to do it again for that particular aircraft.

Using the GF46
You can configure this manually or have it automatically configured as the auto pilot or the instrument panel, just like GoFlights GFConfig does.

Whenever you use an aircraft for the first time, go to the 46R tab, click the INST or AP button. Now go to the 46O tab, then select Device 0 from the drop down and then select ENABLE from the drop down next to it. It will now work but LED's won't light up unless the gear state changes, or you can quit GIT and restart it and all the displays will light up.

You only need to do this once, you will never need to do it again for that particular aircraft.

Using the GF166
You can configure this manually or have it automatically configured for COM, NAV or ADF radios, just like GoFlights GFConfig does.

Whenever you use an aircraft for the first time, go to the GF166 tab, click the COM or NAV or ADF button, then select Device 0 from the drop down and then select ENABLE from the drop down next to it. It will now work but LED's and displays won't light up unless you click the buttons and use the rotaries. You can also just quit GIT and restart it and all the displays will light up.

You only need to do this once, you will never need to do it again for that particular aircraft.

Using the SECM
Whenever you use an aircraft for the first time, go to the SECM tab, click the Default FS button, then select Device 0 from the drop down and then select ENABLE. It will now work, or you can quit GIT and restart it and all the displays will light up.

You only need to do this once, you will never need to do it again for that aircraft.

Import Wizard
Once you have a completely configured a set of GoFlight devices for one aircraft. You can export the configs for each device and zip them up to make it Import Wizard compatible. Now, when ever you start using a different aircraft for the first time, run the import wizard, selecting the file you have created and all your GoFlight hardware will be configured for the new aircraft. See Importing & Exporting Device Configurations and Sharing Your Work in the on-line user guide.

Lua support
This is now available from release 4.3 onwards.

Detective including Bespoke Events & Variables and Lvar support
This is now working from version 4.4.0.0.

PMDG/iFly/Q400 Support
PMDG 737 support is now available. iFly & Q400 support is obviously not present at the moment because they haven't ported their aircraft yet. GIT will be updated (if necessary) to support these aircraft.

GoFlight Drivers
Any reference to GoFlight drivers or GFConfig in the end user documentation can be ignored for GIT FS2020 as they are not needed. I will update it asap.

No need to thank me, I took your advice my old friend! :-)

  • Thx, I had figured this out on my own. Happy that I followed the right procedure. However, Allthough Every knob, led and rotory works, All my displays stay dark. Yesterday The MCP lit up, showing the right numbers bit went dark after a while.

Sounds like a Windows power management issue turning the MCP off. Make sure power management is disabled on the USB ports and hubs the MCP is connected to and on the MCP itself.
  • You where right. I thought i had it disabled for every device, but missed a USB root hub. Now the displays work.
  • If anyone is having additional GF module power cycle issues, I found this USB (and USB-C) tester to be extremely helpful in diagnostics:

The device is cheap $18.99 from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X3HST7V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It will show you voltage drops, current load, resistance ... it was very helpful in identifying a few high load GFModules and controllers and problematic power from hubs and/or cables/connections.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Just a quick note on the LGT II, the "Default FS" button assigns the Aileron trim to the Elevator Trim and Elevator Trim gets assigned Aileron trim ... these need to be reversed ... I have a file for the KA350 that can be imported here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vxWncRmBOQE5io6eg_YNiPelgUiCEi8B/view?usp=sharing

I did have some issues with the GF46 and setting Transponder Inc/Dec Carry, it stop working after hitting about 47 increments.

Unfortunately MSFS updates are coming fast and furious, some bugs fixed, new bugs created so it can be unpredictable at times when using GIT.

    Cheers, Rob.

  • Hola Instale la version 4.3 actualizando la version 4.2 pero al abrirlo trata de mostral el panel de control y luego se cierra pero queda cargado en el administrador de tareas. Me podrian orientar por favor. Gracias
  • Translating for Guille:

"I updated to version 4.3 from 4.2, however, while opening it, it tries to show the control panel and then closes, but hangs on the task administrator. Could you help me. Thanks."
  • Hello, I get some of my dozens of goflightmodules to work under msfs2020. But every time I start msfs 2020 again with the same aircraft, all my presets are gone and I have to start everything from the beginning again. What could be the reason?

    Best regards

    Hello Peter,

Can you check the Settings.xml file in Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool and confirm they have actually gone?

Also, each aircraft has to be configured separately, config is not global. See first post in this thread for help on importing and exporting.

    Thx
    Steve

That's an issue with Lua loading up. Go back to 4.2 if you don't need Lua as that's the only change whilst I look into it.

    Best wishes

  • Sorry, but I am sooo confused. I am new to this forum with Polly Pot after not getting any help from GoFlight regarding 2020 and their modules, so I got Polly Pot GIT. I have been using FSX SE for many years with the GoFlight modules and have been very happy with it until 2020 and no help from GF. I read the forum where is says to run the GIT after 2020 is loaded and the menu appears; how do I get to the GIT when 2020 fills the screen? I can see no way to shrink the 2020 screen down to where I might be able to run GIT. Point me to a video or help site being very basic for an old dog (83 in Dec.)like me. (I got started with flight simming with the subLogic one many years ago and have been with MS flight simming ever since, got my Pilot license (ASEL) gave that up when I no longer needed the airplane (Piper Arrow) and now fly virtually for my addition.) Many thanks, Bill
  • Hi Bill,

Pressing Alt and Enter keys together will toggle the sim from full screen to a resizable window which you can then use the mouse to make smaller.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Many thanks Steve, I will try that.
  • After updating to the latest version I experience some strange issues, not happening before with the same aircraft in the previous versions. different led lights are reacting to controls not tied to them. For instance, the toggle switch for ‘pitot heat’ has its led light assigned to ‘pitot heat’ but this led is not burning anymore when switching pitot heat to on. Instead the led of another switch is reacting. This happens to many switches. Any idea?
  • EFIS
(( These need to be configured manually.))
    how can I do that
    Is there an explanation?
    Thank you so much

Is the switch still correct, but the LED above it no longer works because it sounds like the device panel numbers have swapped around.

You will have to search for the relevant events and variables if they even exist yet, as the SDK is still being developed. Assignment is the same as any other GoFlight device.
  • Per Steve, you will need to contact Asobo and get them to make the SDK a priority. It's missing so much functionality relative to other platforms like P3D and XP. It's frustrating for us developers as there is nothing we can do about it ... for example today I trying to use "CameraSetRelative6DOF" from SimConnect and it does nothing ... had to spend time to research it and find out it's just not implemented. Many SimConnect functions/methods are not implemented. SDK documentation is horrible and very incomplete. We need a lot more "end users" to bring these SDK issue to Asobo's attention, developers aren't making much impact on their "priorities".

Thank you, dear, for your response
  • New user stuck on two items. First, my new computer has only usb 3.1 ports; will this work with GIT? Secondly, do I need the GoFllight config program and FSX?
  • You may run into issues at the hardware level with USB 3, GoFlight recommend USB 2, but try it You do not need GoFlight config or FSX if running FS2020 only.

    Best wishes

  • UPDATE:

I now have Detective, Bespoke Events/Variables and Lvar support working in GIT. It needs a little more work, so look out for it shortly.

Does anyone know what the GIT MSFS 2020 Module is for? I updated to GIT Version 4.4.2 Microsoft Store Version from 4.3.3 as the 4.3.3 Version did not seem to be working anymore and because it told me that there is a new Version available (Have been flying in VR, so haven't been using it much/not at all.) It seems that the latest Version 4.4.2 of GIT for MSFS 2020 also seems to be not working. In the log it says "SimConnect Exception Recieved: OUT_OF_BOUNDS" every 3 seconds. The SimConnect Light remains Yellow, blinking alternately slowly from bright yello to darker yello. Status of my goFlight modules is a green light, and the aircraft status light is also green. Who is to blame? Microsoft, or PollyPot? What's going on?
  • Install the GIT MSFS 2020 Module into your MS 2020 Community folder if you get the Out of Bounds error. It seems there is no consistency in the location of the Community folder. You can find out where yours is via this link: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=fs2020+where+is+my+community+folder&docid=607988814543022948&mid=385B6B97D70FBEC910F2385B6B97D70FBEC910F2&view=detail&FORM=VIRE
