GIT for X-Plane not working with MCP Pro

My set up is:

Windows 10 with all the latest 2018 updates
X-Plane 11.20VR latest beta (as at 23 Jan)
MCP Pro and GIT for X-Plane 2.0.11.0

I load the GIT first and get one green light. Then I load X-Plane and all three lights go green. I load an aircraft (I have tried Laminar's 747, Zibo 737, IXEG 737, FlightFactor 757 V2) and the cogwheels appear and begin to rotate but NOTHING ELSE EVER HAPPENS. The MCP Pro tab remains greyed out and the only button that is active is "Restart". If I press that I simply get three reds and the repeating message "GIP Pipe Connection Failed!".
The logfile reads as follows:

08:12:44 GoFlight Connection Starting.....
08:12:44 X-Plane Connection Starting.....
08:12:45 GoFlight Connection Started
08:12:47 GIP: Pipe Connect Failed!
08:12:50 GIP: Pipe Connect Failed!
08:12:53 GIP: Pipe Connect Failed! (Edited note: This will keep happening until I load X-Plane)
08:12:54 X-Plane Connection Started
08:12:54 Aircraft Connection Starting.....
08:13:26 WinSock: Connection Failed: Unable to read data from the transport connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.
08:13:26 LUA Processor: Connect Exception - Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
08:13:26 Aircraft Connection Started
08:13:26 Synchronising Switches & Selectors .....
08:13:26 Synchronising Switches & Selectors: Waiting for X-Plane .....
08:14:06 X-Plane: Event Received: Aircraft Loaded/Flight Loaded
08:15:19 X-Plane: Event Received: Aircraft Loaded/Flight Loaded
08:15:19 GIP - Message Processor Exception: The process cannot access the file 'X:\X-Plane 11\Aircraft\Laminar Research\Boeing B747-400\DREDataRefs.txt' because it is being used by another process.

The strange thing is that the MCP Pro used to work perfectly with any of those aircraft until a few weeks ago. I have completely uninstalled GIT and re-installed it so now have no config data for any A/C.

The changes since then that I can think of are the usual Windows 10 updates and I moved to X-Plane 11.20VR. I have even gone back to the latest stable version of X-Plane 11.10 but to no avail.

Can anyone help me out?

  • The log seems to be suggesting that something else has the relevant files open that GIT is scanning. I'm guessing this is why it sticks at the cog wheel. Can you think what the program might be? AV software for example?

I presume you have rebooted your PC since this started to happen?

Try renaming Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool directory so GIT starts clean.

Also run GIT and X-Plane as Administrator.

    Let me know.

    Thx

  • Thanks for that advice Steve, which I followed to the letter. It seems obvious, as you say, that some other process is opening the DREDataRefs.txt file but I simply cannot find which process that is. I thought about what programs/processes might interact with X-Plane. I used to have a Saitek X52 HOTAS, which I no longer use, so I deleted the software associated with that and tried again. At Xmas, I was abe to replace the HOTAS with a Logitech yoke and throttle block, so I deleted all the software I had installed for those and tried again. Finally I completely deleted my Antivirus software (Bullguard). Each time, I deleted the GoFlight directory in Documents, rebooted and ran both the GIT tool for X-Plane and X-Plane itself as administrator and the same thing happens every time and the logfile looks exactly the same. I can no longer see anything in Task Manager that is a process or program that might want to open an X-Plane file!

I am at a loss at present to explain this. I have also downloaded a Process Explorer app, (procexp64.exe) that can apparently tell me about .dll files but I have yet to work out if it can show me which .txt files are held open by which process. Is there another program that can list all open files in Windows 10?
  • Solved! I opened DREDataRefs.txt in Notepad and discovered that the two plugins were writing to it - an additional FMC for the EADT x737 models and JARDesign's Ground Handling Deluxe plugin. I removed those two plugins from X-Plane and the MCP Pro works as intended once more! Your advice set me on this path so I do owe you thanks - and maybe this will help others too.
  • Excellent news and a good find! Thanks for letting us know.
