Tabs Greyed in Sim Mode

Hello,

I just installed GIT for FSX SE and have been attempting to get it to work with several of my GF modules with no luck.  I configured the dll.xml and allowed the file to run upon FSX startup.  GIT detects its in Sim Mod (All 3 Lights green), yet all my modules are greyed out.  I don't think I missed any steps but maybe I did.  Any ideas?  The Goflight section lists all my modules accurately.

  • Hi Chris,

You need to be in the virtual cockpit of an aircraft before the tabs become enabled.

  • Sorry I should have clarified.  I was loaded in to a flight and sitting on the runway in one of the stock airbuses.  I even ran in windowed mode to ensure it wasnt the alt-tab action that was greying the tabs back out.
  • Hi Chris,

Just done a quick test with the default Trike and all is OK. I would double check you have the dll loading properly and try another aircraft.

Also, is the Detective button enabled?

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Detective button is also grayed out.  I've tried with 2 aircraft but ill try another when I get home.  The DLL prompted to load but I guess I can try and remove that and start over on that part.  Im running windows 8.1 and latest GF config 2.25 if that matters.  Latest version of FSX Steam Edition as well.
  • I'm not sure if FSX SE reports DLL's crashing. It would be worth following the steps in the FAQ in relation to the Goflight Interface Module.dll crashing just to make sure it is actually loading and not silently crashing out.

  • Got ya.  I will try that tonight and report back.  Thanks.

Still no good.  I remove the configs for the dll in fsx.cfg and double checked dll.xml.  It prompted to run the file, i allowed to run, and his yes on the next box, still no good.  I dont see where in the FAQ to verify if the dll is crashing?  Logs show the following while aircraft is loaded and sitting on runway:

    18:09:28 GoFlight Connection Starting.....
    18:09:28 SimConnect Connection Starting.....
    18:09:29 SimConnect Message Processing Started

Also - I even have the addon options in the toolbar in FSX to remotely restart the GIT.
  • Hi Chris,

The FAQ entry is the last one called FSX/P3D/FSX SE Crashes on start up indicating an error with the Goflight Interface Module.

Can you try it with the default Trike.

    Thanks

    Steve

  • So my registry key actually had "~ RUNASADMIN WIN7RTM"   I deleted this with no change.  Tested with the trike/various other aircraft.
  • That key was OK, but no harm done.

I've not seen this problem before.

What other addon's are being loaded in xml.dll and exe.dll? It may be worth just loading the Goflight Interface Module.dll to see if that makes a difference.

Also do other external addon's work like Active Sky so we can rule out simconnect issues?

Have you tried running everything with admin rights or "as administrator"?

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • I haven't reinstalled any of my addons as I was trying to keep the moving parts to a minimum.  I actually just stumbled upon something that may have made a difference.  I stumbled upon a link for other addon software that said the Steam version provides the previous simconnect version installs with it.  Theyre under "...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces".  I installed the version "FSX-XPACK" and now the tabs are no longer grayed out and the MCP lights up now.  However, I still haven't been able to get any of them to work but that may be user error on my part.
  • Are you sure you downloaded and installed the Steam Edition of GIT? The legacy interfaces are not needed if you did!
  • 100% certain.  I actually downloaded the incorrect version the first time when I was wondering why nothing was working.  I still cant get the native app to work with the legacy sim connect versions but Im going to experiment with GIT more.  Maybe Ill actually get some simming some this weekend!
  • I'm struggling to get to grips with what is happening here. If you want, I can teamview into your PC over the weekend at some point and take a look.

  • I should be around during the day tomorrow.  Any particular time work for you?
  • edited March 2015

I'm at time zone GMT +0 so I guess your afternoon is my evening. Anything prior to 6.00pm GMT would be OK for me. Just email me when you're at your PC with your team view ID and password and I'll take a look.

    Best wishes

    Steve

P.S. I'll email you so you have my email address!

  • Sounds good.  After installing activesky - im right back where I started.  Tabs grayed out.  I give up lol.
