HotStart CL650 and GIT X Plane - Have MCP Pro programed except for AP ENG

Hi everyone,

I have HotStart's CL650 programmed for the MCP Pro modeling the CL650's Flight Control Panel (FCP). The digital displays are not programmed because the CL650's Proline 21 Enhanced does not feature digital displays.

The only button I can't program is for engaging the autopilot. I am using the MCP Pro's CMD A and CMD B buttons to program the following control: CL650/FCP/ap_eng . However, it's not working. I can assign a keyboard key to this command in X-Plane, but I cannot get this command to work and engage the autopilot. I'm not sure if this is a GIT issue or a HotStart CL650 issue. Any thoughts?

I have the GoFlight EFIS programmed also, but I'm taking some personal liberties with how I am using the rotary knobs. HotStart made it VERY EASY to program these modules.

When I get it completed, I'm happy to share.

Thanks,

Rich Boll

  • Odd. When testing the command in Detective, does any dataref change?

    Hi Steve,

I noticed that I did not get with you on your question. I will check it next time I fly HS CL650. So far, this is the only one of the commands that does not seem to work. Everything else can be mapped.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Steve,

Apologies for my absence in getting back to you about this issue. I'm not that up on use the finer points of GIT and Detective. Can you direct me to a video I can watch to see how to do this?

I have also noticed that the CL650/pedestal/trim/rud_up and the CL650/pedestal/trim/rud_down, which control left and right rudder trim are not working when assigned to the LGT ROTARY_RUDDERTRIM. I also tried to assign it to the SWITCH_LEFT and SWITCH_RIGHT on the LGT to try to see if these two switches would work the rudder trim. When I select what I believe to be these same commands through the X Plane joystick button, it appears that it does work. However, I would like to have these joystick buttons back as I need them for my hat switch views.

Alternatively, is there a way to assign a key command to a GIT module action? The key command could be assigned to these same functions through the X-Plane menu.

Do I need to post something to HotStart forum concerning these commands?

    Thanks,

    Rich Boll
  • Video is for the latest version of Detective in VFSH, but the concepts are the same: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRoyPzmTD0o&ab_channel=PollypotSoftware

Try adding the ROTATE action to the trim wheel when using the commands. If still no joy test on a GoFlight switch/button and let me know if it works.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Steve!

Will do. sorry for the late response. it's been busy and I have not back into the CL350 recently.

  • Hi Steve,

I apologize for not getting back to you earlier about this issue. I've been busy this fall, with the fact that I got away from Hot Start CL650. With the release of ver 1.7 for XP12, I have got back into it. I'm still having the issues with assigning the AP ENG on the FCP and the rudder trim assignments in the CL650 to buttons and switches using GIT.

For example, I can assign a keyboard command to 650/FCP/ap_eng to engage/disengage the autopilot. This value shows up in GIT, and I assign it to the CMD A and the CMD B on the MCPPro in GIT. However, nothing happens when either button is pressed. I do not have any other problems assigning other MCPPro using GIT to unique CL650 values. In fact, Hot Start has done the most through and comprehensive job of providing references to the buttons and switches in CL650. Nearly everything can be programmed.

The same thing for rudder trim. I tried to assign the reference for rudder trim (CL650/Pedestal/trim/rud_up and CL650/Pedestal/trim/rud_down) to the LGTII panel rotary for rudder trim and the SWITCH_LEFT and SWITCH_RIGHT, On the rudder trim in the LGTII panel, I tried to change the reference to rotary, but no luck.

I tried to look at the Detective, but there is just so much information flowing in HS CL650 that it's impossible to notice any one data reference change. I still can't make heads or tails of what I'm seeing or trying to find.

    Thanks,

  • You need to let detective run for a minute, then click the Detected button, select all datarefs and click hide. This will clear out all the noise so you can see what is happening. If you don't see a change for AP ENG, then click the Hidden button and see if anything remotely looking like a dataref for AP ENG has been hidden.

Thanks Steve! I will work on this over the weekend.
