Has GoFlight gone out of business?

There was a news message a year ago about GoFlight being sold to new owners. But as of this year the website went down and the domain name is now parked.

Has the company officially gone out of business and are we now reliant on community support to keep the equipment working?

  • Yes, they’ve shut up shop permanently. Steve’s software is excellent with the GoFlight hardware. Even with a new PC with no USB2 ports I purchased an adapter that connects to the USB2 headers on my mobo.

Then using a powered USB hub all my GoFlight units work fine in P3D.

  • Good to know. I saw the drivers were still mirrored on Steve's web site, but is there also a mirror for the firmware updates?
  • I could be wrong but I believe only GoFlight can flash firmware updates. What version do you have? A25 is okay plus anything higher.

How do I check the firmware version? I have issues with the displays freezing regularly on the 166's and the MCP. Regardless of USB version - the units will freeze just the same when I use my laptop with USB2.0 ports or my PC which has USB3/USB3.1 only.
  • There’s a program you can use to check firmware for the MCP. I’ll post details tomorrow.

  • The file you need to check the MCP Pro is working correctly and shows the firmware version is named MCPProChkA25.zip

I can't see it in the Download section. Perhaps Steve @admin_pps could advise.

Thanks, I tried using that tool but it doesn't recognize my MCP since it's a regular (rack mounted) one, not a Pro.

I'm already looking into making a tool to run on a remote box like a Raspberry Pi so we can circumvent USB support issues in the future, and connect an entire rack to your machine using Ethernet. The data could then be forwarded to the sim directly or into GIT over a network.

I'd be happy to share it with you as well as the protocol used once I have a working skeleton version of the code so you can integrate it.
  • The test software only works with the MCP Pro, not the MCP Advanced. Being rack mounted makes no difference.

    Best wishes
    Steve
