Unable to undock PMDG Panels in P3D

Earlier this year I invested in a stand-alone flight only sim PC and peripherals that included the GoFlight EFIS and MCP panels.  I installed P3D v2.5 and the PMDG 737NGX and 777 aircraft, being the mainstay of my sim flying hobby.  In conjunction with GoFlight/Pollypot software, all worked swimmingly well other than the occasional (and frustrating) OOM issues with P3D v2.5.  Recently, P3D have released v3 and I so I swallowed the bitter pill and purchased the new licence as it seems to promise to eradicate the OOM issues (let’s see!).  However, having ‘upgraded’ to the later version, I had issues undocking the panels of both of my PMDG aircraft.  Having taken this up with PMDG’s superb tech help and followed suggestions to try to resolve the issue, nothing worked.  So, I then uninstalled every piece of sim software, add-ons and all, cleaned and updated the operating system (Windows 7) and did a complete clean re-install of P3D v3 followed by the PMDG aircraft only.  All worked well, no other add-ons or ancillary software installed.  Next, I added the latest versions of the GoFlight configurator and Interface tool (2.1.18.0) in order to use my hardware panels.  First run, perfect!  Next and subsequent runs, same issues as before in that the PMDG panels won’t undock and some (randomly) of the clickable controls are not working.  My only conclusion therefore is that the GoFlight software causes the problems – any ideas anyone?  For info; I use five screens, three for outside views and two for panels, hence my desire to get the PMDG panels undocked!

I have no idea why or how it could possibly be doing this. However P3D version 3 and GIT are not playing nicely together as you will see from various posts on the forum.

I'm working on it, but don't expect much progress until the tail end of the week at the earliest.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve,
Many thanks for your response.  If you need more info or would like to arrange remote access to my system, please let me know.
    Best wishes,
    Kevin.
  • Hi Steve,
Did you manage to progress this?
    Cheers,
    Kevin.
  • Hi Kevin,

Still working on it. Follow this thread for more information and the ability to try newer versions of the software:

  • Will do Steve, thanks.
  • UPDATE...
From a clean machine, I reinstalled, tested and confirmed everything OK with the following software step by step...
    P3D v3
    Orbx Global
    Orbx England
    OPUS FSI
    REX Textures
    MyTraffic 6 (with tweaks)
    PMDG737NGX
    PMDG777
I then decided to reinstall GIT and Pollypot once again to see if I could get my EFIS and MCP working and so far it works without affecting the PMDG panels!  I tested by closing down and opening P3D on numerous occasions to see if there would be issues.  There were some (not related to panels, but dials not working properly until I remembered to update .NET Framework to version 4.6.  (BTW - I did have this installed previously when I had the panel issue described in the first post above).  Thereafter ok, but it seems that the following order of loading seems to work fine:
    Open P3D
Change aircraft to PMDG and location (if required)
    Open G. I. T.
Finally, run scenario.  This seems an important step to make last.
I'll update you once more if I have further issues.
    Best wishes,
    Kevin.
