GF-46 module issues.

Hello,

I have a GF-46 module for a few months now and I never got it to work correctly. It doesn't light up when starting GIT, I have to unplug then replug it to light it up but most of the time the screen is freezed. 1 time to 20 i get it to work properly so i think it's not a hardware related problem.
When it finally works i can make a flight without issues but next time I start FSX and GIT, it stays blank.
I use FSX Sp2 and Windows 10. I was previously on windows 7 64 and had the same problem.
Also i have three other GF modules GF-RP48, GF-P8 and GF-166 and all of them are working properly (little start problem with the 166 but nothing serious).
I run the 4 GF modules on a belkin powered usb hub 2.0 and try to plug the GF-46 on other usb directly on the computer but i had same issues.
I also set my usb power management to not cut the power on them.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Hi Alek,

Does it work OK using Goflights software (GFConfig and the data bridge)? If you haven't tried it, do so and make sure GIT is not running. If it is failing with the Goflight software as well as GIT then its a local issue usually due to insufficient power on the USB port. Try a different hub, minimise the amount of devices on the hub and check the power management features are turned off for all relevant USB hubs and devices. It may also be worth disabling the USB power options in the power profile via control panel, power options.

    Thx

  • Hi Steve,

    Thanks for your help!

So I tried to plug only the gf46 on the powered hub and also directly on the computer without the hub, all other GF module were disconnected. I then launch GF config, the panel lighted up and i can set differents options on the GF46, it also worked within fsx(i had 1 freeze).
But when i quit FSX and launch again the panel stays blank, same thing when i open and close GF config, the panel will randomly freeze and become unresponsive or will not light up again.
To be more precise i succeed to make it work one time in GIT and then FSX by unplug/replug close/launch GIT but it never light up gain at the next startup of GIT or fsx.

As you said it could be a power issue, but i disabled power saving option via the control panel and on each usb individually. I also just plug the GF46.
I will check in the bios if there is no another power saving option.
It's weird that just this module encountered power problem even with a powered hub.
Is there other things to check?

    Thanks

    Alek
  • Hi Alek,

Have you contacted John at Goflight as he might have some test software?

    Best wishes

    Hi Steve,

Yes, i sent a mail to him today before i post in this forum. I will wait for a reply from him and come back here to tell you the news.

    Thanks for your help,

    Alek

PS : Just a question, is it possible to control the GF-166(set to work with nav1/nav2/com1/com2) with buttons on a P8 (1 button for Nav and the other for Com). Functions in GIT GF166_control_toggle1_2 doesn't work when set in the P8. I will open a new topic if necessary thanks.
