GIT X-Plane Groundtraffic plugin(and possibly others) causing issues reading datarefs

Hey Steve, I've come across another issue you may or may not be able to correct.

Some airports payware and freeware include Marginals Ground Traffic plugin (MisterX6 KBOS freeware is a good example) which resides inside of the airport folder.

IF you are working on a GIT profile and you load into any airport with this plugin, the DREPrivate datarefs.txt  will only end up showing the GroundTraffic plugins' datarefs. Once you move the aircraft to an airport that doesn't use this plugin DrePrivatedatarefs.txt will again read the proper aircraft datarefs.

In detective the groundtraffic datarefs won't show.

I'm wondering if the proper place for these Groundtraffic datarefs is in the global datarefs.txt and global commands.txt? as of now both those files are blank for me and have a red X next to them in GIT? should I just copy the names of these Groundtraffic datarefs and put them into the global file?

  • Yes you should. Do none of the aircraft datarefs show up DrePrivatedatarefs.txt?

  • They only show up if I load at an airport that doesn't use that plugin, if I load into an airport with groundtraffic only like 3 of the aircraft's datarefs show up and the others are from groundtraffic

  • Sorry for the confusion , in the first post the file in question is DREdatatrefs.txt, it will only show the marginal datarefs:

    marginal/groundtraffic/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/speed
    marginal/groundtraffic/steer
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/last
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/last/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/next
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/next/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/var
    marginal/groundtraffic/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/speed
    marginal/groundtraffic/steer
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/last
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/last/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/next
    marginal/groundtraffic/waypoint/next/distance
    marginal/groundtraffic/var

I tried putting the datarefs into the global file but it doesn't prevent that plugin from blocking out the other datarefs

  • That's weird. I test things out and come back to you.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve,

I have just done some testing on this issue (but with an updated version of GIT) and I'm not seeing the issue. I'm wondering if I have accidently fixed the problem or its plane specific ( I am testing with the FF 757). Therefore can you delete the DREDataRefs.txt file in the FF 757 directory, load up the Flight Factor 757 at a non ground traffic airport and check the DREDataRefs.txt file. Next move to KBOS, wait for the VC to appear and then open up DREDataRefs.txt file and the ground traffic datarefs should have been appended (or not - let me know please).

    Thx

    Steve
