Joysticks not working

  • You stated in an earlier post that it's showing as a Supp Device in the log. My GIT log shows as

19:56:36 FP Device Found: vJoy Device

19:56:36 Joystick Found Device 1: vJoy Device
    19:56:36 Device 1 Button Count: 8
    19:56:36 Device 1 POV Count:0

Perhaps an uninstall and reinstall of vJoy may help. If it still comes in as a Supp Device, I will have to hard code support for it into GIT - not sure why they should be seen as different device types though unless you are running an older version?

There is no limit on joysticks connected.

    Best wishes

  • PS in device manager, my vJoy Device is showing a driver date of 21/9/2016 version 12.2.58.487
  • Hi Steve

I am showing same version and date.
I uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled Vjoy and it showed up in log as you had.
I added another Vjoy device and GFIT only showed one? In windows when you add two they both appear in game controller with the same name. In P3D they are Vjoy 1 and Vjoy 2? I then tried to delete one and Vjoy is not deleting. This is just FYI for you. The GFIT issue I think is resolved. If I find out why it didn't work the first time I will post for you. I am suspicious that the first stick I set up I did without any axis and the second with axis.

Thank you again for outstanding support.

    Hi Terry,

Maybe what properties you choose the vJoy to have determines its device type?

  • Hi Steve

I just ran some tests and that is the case. If you setup a Vjoy without any axis it will not be detected by GFIT. What I don't understand is how my Thrustmaster MFD and my Button Box devices, neither of which have axis, are detected without problem. I wonder if you hard coded those?

Now that I have a consistent way to add a Vjoy device, I tried to add a second Vjoy device and it worked!

The only remaining question I have is does GFIT have any limit on the number of buttons? Vjoy will let you setup 128 buttons.

I think all is solved now unless you want to look into the recognition issue without axis. If the devices I mentioned above are not in some way hard coded then I guess it will be one of those mysteries that doesn't need to be solved. If they are hard coded then GFIT must have some code that prevents recognition unless axis present.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Hi Terry,

The Supp devices have caused GIT to crash in the past for some people, so they are hard coded unless they "look" like a Joystick. I did hard code your MFD and Button Box.

I'll have to check about the button restriction, but its unlikely.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve

No need to check. I just set one up for 128 and even though windows only sees 32, GFIT see all 128.
    So all issues resolved!!

    Thanks
    Terry
