just bought GIT Xplane and has issues.

Hi,

Thank you for this product, i just bought it last night and got to install it today. installs fine.
click on it and a box pops up asking for registration info so i copy it to the box and click register
then it says Goflight interface tool has stopped working and asks to close the program or check online for a solution.

now anytime i click on GIT icon on my desktop it immediately pops backup the Goflight interface tool has stopped working.

this is a CLEAN install of Windows 7 x64 and has all the patches applied to it including .NET 4.6.2

not a good way to start things if you ask me. how do i fix this thing so i can use it?

  • Hi,

    Uninstall GIT.

    Delete My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool

    Delete C:\ProgramData\GoFlight Interface Tool XPlane

    Install GIT and re-register.

    If it still fails, start X-Plane and verify the GIT plugin is running.

    If you have a GoFlight MESM device, download the latest GoFlight drivers and install them. Copy the GFDev.dll file from the GoFlight drivers into your GIT installation directory. The drivers are here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qj9l968zsp7313p/GFConfigSetup_2_26_5.zip?dl=0

    right now the only GoFlight pieces i have are the MCP Pro and EFIS. plan to at the gf-166's soon.
  • It might be a permission/security issue. Can you try running GIT as administrator.

    If that doesn't work I will have to build a debug version for you to run that will provide detailed error information.

    Thx

    Steve

  • Also, can you tell me what Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable versions you have installed (they are listed in Programs and Features via Control Panel).

    Thx

    Steve

  • this is what i got installed:

    Visual C++  2010 x64 redistributable 10.0.30319
    Visual C++  2010 x86 redistributable 10.0.30319
    Visual C++ redistributable 2013 x64 12.0.21005
    Visual C++ redistributable 2013 x86 12.0.21005
    Visual C++ redistributable 2015 x64 14.0.23026
    Visual C++ redistributable 2015 x86 14.0.23026

  • running as admin didnt change anything. i right clicked on GIT and selected run as admin.

  • OK, we need to track down what is peculiar to your setup. I'll get a debug version built for tomorrow which should help me track down the issue and get it fixed.

  • steve,

    machine is a Lenovo Thinkstation D20 with 2 Xeon quad core 5677 cpu's (8 cores total) with 24G of ram and a Nvidia 780Ti.
    clean fresh built windows 7 Pro x64 updated with all the patches. built about a week ago. no bloatware.

    thanks for the help so far.

  • The only other thought I had is that you may have disabled Aero by picking a basic Windows 7 theme. GIT needs Windows Aero enabled.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • aero enabled as far as i know. i have selected one of the aero themes.
  • i swapped to a different aero theme just to make sure and tried to re-register GIT.

    now its throwing "Registration Failed! - 202 Exceeded Install Cou" rest is covered up which i click the register button
  • I have reset your install count back to zero so you can register again.

  • I have just noticed in your installed programs that you have 4.6.2 of the .NET Framework. GIT is compiled to use .NET Framework 4.5.1. Although its meant to be backwards comptiable I'm thinking this may be the issue. Can you install .NET Framework 4.5.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40779

    Thx

    Steve

  • OK, ignore my previous post. I have realised that a 3rd party dll that GIT relies on is compiled with .NET Framework 2.0 so installing .NET Framework 3.5 which is backward compatiable with 2.0 should fix your problem. Leave 4.6.2 .NET Framework installed!

    Thx

    Steve

  • ill get .Net 3.5 installed and give it another spin.

    thanks for the time and help steve.
  • I have messaged you on the forum with a debug version if the above doesn't work!

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Steve,

    sorry for the long time in getting back to you.i have a family emergency going on.

    .NET 3.5.1 is installed also with .NET 4.5.2 and installed your Debug version and it works. No crashes. i havent been able to Nail down what was causing the crashes.

    anyways its working. i dont know what part of it made it work. i had .NET 4.6.2 installed before but i back that out via a system restore.
    thank you for your hard work in helping Steve. means alot.

  • That's strange!

    I have uploaded a non debug version onto the website if you wish to try that. Download in the normal way from My Account.

    Best wishes

    Steve
