Zip File Format

Hey Pilots

Couldn't find anything on FAQ nor in this search forum (am I the only one who does not like this forum from a technical point of view? - anyway, subject to another topic);
I have spent quite some time programming for my XP10 FF_752 and CRJ-200 and Challenger300.
Works fine so far and I'm happy to share my files... just:
How do I zip all my txt and xml files in such a way, that the GIT does import them again?

I tried the Windows10 standard  zip file to simply put all in one file / to zip the whole subfolder from my myDocuments\GoFlight Interace Tool\ subfolder... but whenever I want to import my own zip file, the GIT crashes.

But I can import zip files - I used Steve's files for the MCPpro and GF166 for FF_752 as a starting point and I could import them with no problem at all...

Can anyone provide me either with a hint or a link (to a FAQ/PDF/forum thread) which explains how to zip my own xml files so I can re-import my own files again and/or provide it to this community?

Thanks a lot in advance.
Best regards
Dominic

    :)
  • Hi Dominic,

You need to use the export functions. Export from Detective, then export each device you have configured/wish to share. Export to a temp folder, then zip up the whole contents (just the /files and not the temp folder itself).

  • Hey Steve

thanks for your quick answer. I will try it out (currently not possible as I am on cruise level now :) ) - but that's what I actually tried earlier and when I want to import my zip file, my GIT crashes... I will try it as soon as possible and let you know.

  • Hi Steve

so, I tried it again - and it works! I dunno but maybe it was because I tried it with the subfolder... with all the files in the flat zip file it does work - with 1 caveat: I have 3 GF166 modules and therefore 3 corresponding xml files (-0,-1 and -2.xml). However, when I import the zip file, only 1 GF166 module can be imported. Any hint?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Best regards

  • Did you tick the 3 GF166 boxes during import?
  • That was exactly the problem: there was only 1 box to tick as all the other boxes were greyed out...
Just saw that there's the new version 1.8 to download... I will try it with this one, maybe it works better...!?
  • Sounds like a bug in GIT. I will investigate.
  • ok, I let you know how it worked with the new version - and if it still does not work, happy to share my zip file :-)
It's my first try with the standard C172 Skyhawk...
  • Hey Steve

It indeed seems to be a "feature".
I just installed GIP 1.8.0 (how /where can I see that really the news plugin is running and not my old one?) and tried it again with the attached file for C172. The import function loads the file but then I can only tick 1 box for GF166.
This is also the case for my FF B752 file (where I have several GF166, P8, T8 modules in addition to the single modules), my CRJ200 and CL300 files.

If you need more I can help with, plz let me know.
    Best regards
    Dominic
