GIT X-Plane: No longer functioning

I'm flipping between x-plane 10 and 11 at the moment and today GIT has stopped functioning. The utility launches and the MCPPro starts but with all zeros, it doesn't respond to the controls. I have partial functionality with the EFIS. I have tried reinstalling the program v1.8.0 and even going back to 1.7.2 but nothing changes. I think something may have become corrupted that is not getting replaced with a reinstall, is that possible. I can't think why it has stopped working. I have a screenshot, it looks to me like there are a lot more red X's than before though I can't be sure. I have loaded and reloaded the x737 config without success.

  • Your config file may have become corrupt. Try renaming the My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool directory, start GIT, then reconfigure as necessary.

  • I renamed it allowed GIT to recreate it, same result; MCPPro starts but displays all zeros and buttons not responding. EFIS is mostly responding except for Baro and DH knobs. The Baro can be pushed and set to standard but the rotary does not register. These were all working yesterday and there have been no Windows updates. Running on Windows 7.
  • Not sure what it could be then. It may be some disk corruption that has damaged X-Plane or Windows. Try running GIT and X-Plane as Admin. Are you sure you have installed anything else, particularly a plugin?

  • No new plugins and I have removed all the others now while I test. I am now trying again after removing x-planes preferences.
  • Running as admin didn't work. Changing to a different aircraft didn't work either. I don't understand this, I have removed every trace I can find and reinstalled and it still doesn't work. Switched back to xgoflight3 plugin which is working.

Are there other hidden files that I can try to remove and then do a complete reinstall?
  • C:\Users\<your login name>\AppData\Local\PollyPot_Software

    C:\ProgramData\GoFlight Interface Tool XPlane

Both are hidden directories. Clear out both and My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool.

Uninstall GIT, make sure it has gone completely including the plugin in both X-Plane installations. Reinstall GIT

  • I've now exceeded the install count and cannot register. Can you reset it for me please.
  • PM me your email address used on your order so I can reset the activation count.

  • I have reset your activations.
  • Thanks, no luck though, I'm running out of ideas now.
  • I'm wondering if .NET has got corrupted. It may be worth downloading and reinstalling that.
  • I'll give it a try.
  • I have found that the configuration for the IXEG 737 works but the x737 doesn't, this is the one I have had the problems with. Looking at the DREDataRefs files for both it doesn't seem like the x737 is correct, it just contains a few lines that look unrelated. This is the latest version downloaded from the site, could you take a look at it for me. The file in the zip is what appears in the aircraft folder and it think it may be the problem.
  • If it is the SSG 737, check that you are running the correct version of the GIT config files for the version you have. Slayer did two versions 1.4 and 1.5 for the relevant versions of the x737. Both are available from Downloads.

  • That was for the SSG 747, there is only one for the x737 in downloads.

Something seems to be happening during the import function. I am getting different versions of the DREDataRefs. The file (attached) DREDataRefs1 looks more likely to be correct but is getting overwritten with DREDataRefs2 on import. I have renamed these files for comparison, they are normally DREDataRefs.
  • Yep, the one in Slayers config appears to be wrong. Remove it and copy your version into the Aircraft directory.

If you import the config again, make sure you remove the DRE data refs file from the zip before importing.

  • OK, I have it working. The 737 DREDataRefs in the x737 archive is wrong. I opened the archive and replaced the file with the correct one and remade the zip. This now imports properly. I cannot understand why it worked initially, is it possible that the archive was worked on? I have downloaded it several times, maybe only the original was right?

EIther way, perhaps Slayer could take a look at it.
  • In version 1.8, the code was changed to over-write any existing dataref and command files with the ones in the config to ensure everything was the same, as some people had issues with incorrect files. This has obviously had the knock on consequence of showing up faulty files in the downloadable configs.

  • I must have been the first person to use that config with version 1.8. Lucky me.
