MCP problems

I have tried to follow your instructions to programme the interface tool for my GF-MCP. The problem is that the vertical speed dial action is reversed and the numbers in the GF unit only sometimes correspond to those in the simulation. The Interface tool shows the MCP as disabled and clicking  on the box to enable it has no effect. Can you suggest a way forward?

  • If using the FSX/P3D version of GIT, make sure you have set the MCP set to compatible add-on in GFConfig.

You can use the input action of ROTATE_REVERSED to correct the dial problem.

If the aircraft is a standard aircraft just click the FS Default button to auto configure it.

The device state is not updated until a device is picked, so it may look disabled but is actually enabled.

  • Hi Steve
Thanks for the reply. I must be a bit thick as I can't  see where in the FSX Git to set the MCP as a compatible add on. Perhaps you would help further and point me to the correct method.

  • Hi Tony,

GFConfig is part of the GoFlight driver software, you will find it where you installed the drivers from GoFlight (GIT is usually installed in the same place).

Anyway, I told you wrong, it should be set to FSDefault for the MCP Advanced. The MCP PRO should be set to Compatible add-on. See the installation guide and make sure all these steps have been done: http://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/14-installation.html

  • Hi Steve
I have tried everything suggested and followed all the installation guide without success. In the Gf Config the MCP is all set to FS default, In the GF Interface tool the MCP is shown as disabled and nothing can be altered. All other GF items i.e. radios work fine in the PMDG 737, all the problems are with the MCP. The various dials sometimes correspond and then don't if changed. The most annoying is the vert spd dial which is reversed. Can you suggest any further solutions to sort the problem out. Help much appreciated.

  • Hi Tony,

I didn't realise you were using the NGX. This is configured automatically. All you need to do is enable the device by selecting Device 0 in the drop down and then selecting Enable next to it. If you don't see a drop down list, move GIT so that it is not sitting over the flight sim window.

The other thing to check if the displays are not working is the FAQ entry "My MCP PRO or MCP Advanced is not updating its display (just showing zeroes)". The FAQ is here: http://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/70-faq-goflight-interface-tool.html

I'll check in while about the VS dial.

  • Hi Steve
Have followed your suggestions without success. The GIT shows the MCP "DISABLED" with a "0" and clicking on it has no effect. It also shows the other Go Flight items i.e. T8 as disabled but they all work fine. It seems to me that the GIT is not recognising the Go Flight items. I have checked all the suggestions in the user guide and they all seem in order. The only thing that I cannot say is done, is to set the MCP as compatible in the GF Config, as I cannot see anywhere to do this. I shall be grateful if you can explain in some detail.
    Many thanks again.

  • Tony,

You need to click on the blank pulldown list box to the left of DISABLED and select Device 0. You can then enable the device if it isn't already.

  • Hi Steve
Clicking on the box has no effect at all!
    Regards  Tony
  • Hi Steve
Have reinstalled the GIT and now clicking on the box works! Device is now enabled, but this hasn't made the GF MCP dials show the same as the sim. My MCP is quite an old version i.e. approx 10years old do you think this is the problem?
  • Hi Tony,

With the MCP Advanced, GFConfig needs to be set to FS Default. You could also quit the GoFlight Data Bridge when your flight sim starts (its a blue icon with a black aircraft which appears in the taskbar notification area).

  • Hi Steve
Thanks again, the saga continues. As per your previous advice the CG Config is set to default. I tried quitting the GF Data bridge and lo and behold the MCP then works perfectly. However the GF-166A radios and the GF-46 stop working. They only work with the data bridge on. Do they need setting up seperately in the GFI?
    Regards   Tony
  • That's strange Tony. Just double check you have clicked the correct flight sim tab in GFConfig for configuring the MCP Advanced to FS Default and make sure all the actions are set to nothing.

GIT does required the GF166 and GF46 to be configured. The GF166 is straight forward though as you can click a button to auto configured for NAV, COM or ADF.
