Windows 10 error followed by Program will not start error

After installing the latest version 777 I started P3D and the CDU would not display as it did before with version 747.  Shortly after this I recieved a WDF_Violation error with a BSD Restart.  Now the Engravity software won't even start.  Program closed as soon as you try to start it.  Removed and reinstalled,  rolled back to version 747 but nothing helps.  Will not start and CDU is dead.

Comments

  • Attached is the crash report that is generates
  • I think this may be a problem with the device driver for the CDU. Can you uninstall the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (it can be found in Windows Control Panel - Device Manager), then click the Scan for hardware changes button to reinstall it.

Check the config of the device driver matches the CDU config (EXEC+S on the CDU).

It may also be work trying a different USB port.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the drive from Device manager no change.   EXEC + S does nothing at all.  Screen remains blank the entire time.  Tried all the different USB ports on the computer with no change.   EngravityCDU software will not start at all.  Here is the Problem report for the CDU Software

  • Minor update,  I do get the CDU display now with EXEC + S and did match the Baud rate to the port but the Pollypot software still will not start.  Immediate CTD
  • Is it no longer blue screening? If it is have you got the WDF_Violation error code.

  • Yes currently the Blue Screen and WDF Violation issue is corrected and I can actually run the CDU on FSX Steam.  However when I try to start the P3D version the program CTD's and will not start.  Removed and reinstalled both the 777 and 747 versions no change.  The FSX SE version does seem to work though so i'm a bit lost

  • This is very strange. It seems to be pointing a Simconnect issue with P3D. Try renaming the LM Simconnect DLL in the Engravity CDU PMDG Interface directory.

  • I renamed the DLL no help.  Same crash
  • I have also reinstalled the P3D Client as well just to see if that would help which it did not.
  • Please rename the dll back to its original value. Can you try running the software without the CDU connected and P3D running and let me know what happens.

    Thx

    Steve

  • HI Steve.  Exactly the same with the CDU disconnected.
  • Well I ended up performing a Windows 10 Refresh and reinstalled everything after that and all is well.  No idea what it was but that clean Windows smell seems to have cured it,
