Query regarding multiple GIT installs on the same PC

I have Windows 7 Professional, FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3 all fully patched to latest levels on the same PC. I also have GFConfig V2.27 installed. I have downloaded and installed the latest 2.747.1 versions of GIT. When installing each of the versions of GIT for FSX, FSX-SE and P3Dv3, I get a new executable file in my installation directory, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\ . Note: UAC is disabled. The three executables are "Goflight Interface Tool.exe", "Goflight Interface Tool SE.exe" and "Goflight Interface Tool P3D.exe". But in the Windows Control Panel - Programs and Features, only the most recent GIT install is listed. Each successive install of GIT, for a different flight simulator, replaces the listing of the previous install. So, for example, after installing GIT for FSX, the Control Panel lists "GoFlight Interface Tool version 2.747.1". When following that with the GIT install for FSX-SE, it lists only "GoFlight Interface Tool SE version 2.747.1". The same for P3Dv3. The Control Panel lists only "GoFlight Interface Tool P3D version 2.747.1" It's as if Windows sees these successive discrete installs of GIT as being identical and treats them as updates of each other rather than as separate software installs. A consequence of the single entry in the Control Panel for the multiple installs is that one loses a centralised visibility of the fact that there are multiple installs of GIT. Only the most recent install (FSX, FSX-SE or P3D) is listed. Also, if doing an "uninstall" from the Control Panel, one cannot be selective as to which flight sim GIT is deleted. All of flight sim GIT installations are deleted with no granular choice. This has been bit of a ramble! I'm sure there must be good reasons for the way GIT installs are structured the way they are. but if someone could give a high level explanation of the rationale, I'd be an interested listener. One practical question: Should GIT always be uninstalled before installing updates? Or can the updates just be installed over the top of existing installs? Kind regards, Ian Baard
