P3d fatal error when loading GIT (Q400)

I'm a noobie, so I could use some help. I'm attempting to use the Majestic Q400 config with GIT, but when I click a button or twist a knob on my mcp-pro P3d has a fatal error and crashes. The faulty module is mjc84_main.dll. If I don't touch my goflight modules p3d doesn't crash. Also, my GF-166's light up with the correct frequencies, but the numbers do not change on the module or within the sim.

This is the steps I took:

1. Imported Q400 zip using Import wizard
2. Imported mjc8q400_GFMCPPRO-0.xml via MCP import button
3. use any button or knob - instant p3d fatal error

thanks for your help! Between the Q400 and the Aerosoft Airbus, I can tell I have alot of work ahead of me!

  • Also, The Zip imported was Slayer's config, if that helps.
  • Are you running an up to date version of the Q400?
  • Great thing to check into - yes, I'm running the newest version of the Q400. Also I've noticed that if I rotate the knob within the flight sim, the numbers on the MCP-Pro will change correctly. But will, when I move the physical course knob on the Goflight MCP, I get an immediate failure. Interestingly, the Vertical Speed dial does function correctly.

  • Not sure what the issue is here as this is a first. Can you try re-installing the Q400.

It may also be worth running your flight sim and GIT as Administrator in case its a security issue.

    Thx

    Steve

  • Hmm, I tried re-installing the Q400 and double checked that GIT is running as an administrator.

I must be doing something wrong: I even tried using FSX:steam and GIT, and I get the same exact error when I move the course knob.
  • Did you run your flight sim as Administrator as well?
  • Double checked - yep running P3d as administrator. Of interest is that GIT is running great with the PMDG 737, so I think the issue has something to do with imported profile - probably on my end.
  • Just an update with this - I'm still not able to get the MCP pro to work with the imported profile. I've since reformatted my PC and reinstalled P3d. I've recently purchased an EFIS, and the profile works great on the Q400 with that. But P3d freezes as soon as I touch any button or knob on the MCP. This is also a different mcp, so it's not a faulty unit.
    Any suggestions?

Great, I'm making some progress! I can get the profile to work (including the faulty mcp rotaries) after some adjustments. It seems that some of the inputs in the q400 are faulty on my end. I can get everything to work with what I believe are the slower rate adjustments, but the faster rate(??) adjustments are causing my crashes. Can anyone confirm that is what "MJC_EFIS_CRS_R_CW_MC" is used for? So for now I'm forced to make course and heading adjustments at the slow rate, which is quite tedious, but at least it's working!
  • I would guess, the profile provided by Steve (Slayer) is out of date. Perhaps he could comment on this.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Most likely an incomplete import.

I would suggest if you have other profiles to make sure they are exported/ backed up then try removing your goflight folder in documents and trying again with a fresh import. It has been working with all patches and pro version up until this point.

the _MC on the end is my shorthand for "mouse click". I used some mouse click events as it was the only method I found that would work with acceleration of the rotaries. possibly try tinkering with your sending rates etc in GIT and see what happens. or if you have touched those sliders revert them back to the defaults.
