GIT for XP - No auto save or importing of bespoke events
I started working with GIT for XP over the weekend. I'm finding that the auto save function isn't working and I'm losing any programming I've done during a session. This includes both basic button programming as well as bespoke events. However, if I go to the Settings tab before closing GIT and click on Save Settings my work is saved. Is the manual incorrect when it says saving is automatic or am I doing something wrong?
When this happened the first time involving bespoke events I'd just created, I thought I could simply import the bespoke event file that I'd exported as a safety measure. However, when I went to import this file GIT froze up after clicking Import. This freeze is repeatable with a new exported file made following my redoing of the bespoke events, so I don't think corruption of a single file is involved, unless the export function itself isn't working as intended.
Your assistance will be appreciated.

That doesn't sound right at all. The settings are saved when you quit GIT. I wonder if its a security issue. Try running GIT as Administrator.

However, the inability to import an exported set of Bespoke Events without having the program freeze up remains. And this inability to import my Bespoke Events has now become critical.
When I fired up GIT this evening virtually all of my Bespoke Events were not doing what they had been doing before. I checked and found that they had all been stripped of their DataRefs. They contained only the Command line. I have no idea how this might have happened. When I last used the program the day before all was working fine.
So I went to import my most recent export of my Bespoke Events for this plane thinking that that would replace the missing DataRefs. But I can't perform an import. The program crashes as it has all along when I try and do this procedure. Consequently, I really hope there's some way this problem can be resolved as I really need to perform an import now or else redo all my Bespoke Events and hope the DataRef erasure doesn't occur again.
It appears that when I export a set of Bespoke Events, I get 2 exported files. One is named Airfoillabs_C172SP_high_res_Vars.xml and the other is named Airfoillabs_C172SP_high_res.xml. It is the later file that contains all of my Bespoke Event data and that is the file I'm attempting to import. I trust that is correct but don't know for sure.
As always, your assistance will be appreciated.

Make a backup copy of My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool as this has all your settings.
I think uninstalling GIT and re-installing it outside of Program Files (x86) would help your situation, say C:\Goflight. This should eliminate any security issues. Also reinstall the aircraft in case Dataref and Command files have got lost/corrupt because of the other issues.
Then try importing Airfoillabs_C172SP_high_res.xml

I followed your procedures and that has given me back my Bespoke Events. I can import a set of Bespoke Events without crashing GIT. And thus I can restore all my work. Whew! Thanks.
One anomaly, however. I found that I had duplicate entries for each event - one with all the steps (the one I imported) and one with the DataRefs missing. I manually deleted the incomplete events and all works fine. Why did I get duplicate events? Should I have deleted each event first before doing the import? Or is there some other step I missed?
Now to turn my attention to programming the gauge backlighting rotary which you've addressed in my other thread.
Thanks,
Robert
Because the events already existed, it created copies when you reimported. You can wipe all the events by clicking the large X button in Detective and then reimport them.
