P3D v4, PMDG 737 NGX & MCP Pro issues
I have recently come back to P3D after a long break and upgraded to v4 on a new computer (v3 was on my old machine, no longer used).
I followed all the installation instructions for the GIT from your website installing the GoFlight Drivers all ok and the the GIT into the same directory thereafter. I have the MCP Pro and EFIS (and TQ6 but not using it currently).
On starting P3D v4 I did not get the dll warning that you mention I should have. I double checked the dll as per part 3 of the installation instructions and everything was correct.
On starting the GIT and loading the PMDG 737 NGX, my MCP Pro lights up with dashes only. Any changes to the switches has no effect in the sim. The EFIS however seems to be functioning correctly. On checking the GIT I could see the Simconnect button was yellow, the other 2 were green. In the log it just says Simconnect exception received: Error.
I remember in previous versions I had to start GFDevP3D before starting things but that doesn't seem to help here either. The issue seems confined to the MCP Pro only.
Do you have any thoughts on this? Is there any further detail or information I can give you to help diagnose the issue?
Many thanks
James

You don't need to run GFDevP3D that is used to drive the hardware using the GoFlight Drivers/GFConfig.
Go through the steps in the FAQ entry "My MCP PRO or MCP Advanced is not updating its display (just showing zeroes)" found here: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/70-faq-goflight-interface-tool.html
Also make sure you have the Hotfix 1 version of P3Dv4, the prior version will not work.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I downloaded the full latest version of P3D v4 (4.0.28.21686) which includes the Hotfix 1.
For the FAQ:
1) You are not running the latest versions of the NGX, 777, 747. GIT is always built to work with the very latest version only.
I have downloaded the very latest P3D versions of all 3 aircraft direct from the PMDG website
2) The PMDG NGX, 777 or 747 will stop sending messages via their SDK and thus into this driver if
- the aircraft is flown and then you return to the FSX main menu and re-fly it again; I'm not doing this as I'm aware of this bug - the MCP doesn't even light up the first time - it's either dashes or no lights at all
- switch between different models - Same as above;
- your default flight is set to use the NGX, 777 or 747 and then you change to another NGX/777/747 aircraft or model; I don't do this
It will manifest itself as the displays on the MCP PRO not updating, although you can use buttons and switches on the MCP PRO and the NGX/777/747 will respond. The MCP Pro doesn't function at all - the buttons, dials and switches are not changing anything in the cockpit - the EFIS is fine however
3) It may also be due to the PMDG SDK not being enabled. The enabling of the SDK is automatic if you have "FSX Enabled" and/or "Prepar3D Enabled" (whichever is appropriate) ticked on the Settings tab. You can check or set this option manually by using notepad to open the follow file(s):
For the NGX: \PMDG\PMDG 737 NGX\737NGX_Options.ini - this is set up correctly
For the 777: \PMDG\PMDG 777X\777X_Options.ini - I haven't tried the MCP Pro yet with the 777 and the entry is not in the .ini
For the 747: \PMDG\PMDG 747 QOTS II\747QOTSII_Options.ini Same as for the 777
and ensure the following exists:
[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1 (if this is set to 0 change it to 1)
4) On some systems the Flight Simulator software and the GoFlight Interface Tool need to be run as Administrator. Right click on the program concerned (e.g. FSX.exe and afterwards GoFlight Interface Tool.exe). Select the compatibility tab and tick run this program as administrator. Done this, no change in situation
5) You do not have the latest .NET Framework installed. Downloaded and checked - I have the latest version running

No I hadn't - what a numpty! I chose Device 0 and Enabled and then restarted the GIT service - it now works! Thanks for your help/advice. I will test it out in the other PMDG's in the coming days to ensure I have it working fully.
