MCPPRO Buttons and Switches Not Working

I'm running FSX:SE and PMDG NGX. When I have the plane loaded and start the interface tool I'm getting the simconnect light yellow and the switches on my panel do nothing in the sim. The displays and lights work perfectly though so the panel is reflecting the sim. I closed the sim and reinstalled the simconncet files, that didn't fix it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the interface tool, that didn't do it. And I downloaded and ran the latest GF Configure Setup 2.28. Everything was working fine a month ago, not sure why now the buttons and switches do not want to work.

Any help is appreciated.

  • Do the button and switches work OK with another aircraft?
  • I tried the default 737-800 and got nothing but --- for display and the buttons did not work either.
  • You need to click FS Default button on the MCP tab in GIT to auto configure it for default aircraft. Then enable the MCP and quit GIT. Restart GIT and test.

    Thx

  • All GIT lights are green, I clicked FS Default on the MCPPRO tab with the default 738. Quit and restarted GIT with the sim still running and same result. No buttons and displays all ---.
  • Did you remember to enable the device? It is also worth checking on the NGX that you haven't set the device state to IGNORE for the MCP.

    Thx

  • With the PMDG on the MCP tab selection device 0(its the only one) it is set to enable.

I know the default Beech Baron works with GIT OK. So load that up, Enable the MCP, click FS Default button and then quit GIT. Reload GIT and see if the HDG can be changed on the MCP.

    Thx

  • In the Beech Baron after it is enabled and GIT restarted it only displays the HDG I can't change it on the panel.
  • You may have a hardware fault. Let me dig out the testing software for you. Give me a few minutes. Thx
  • I was hoping it wasn't hardware but needed to make sure thanks for the help.
  • Ok here is a link to the tool (its from GoFlight): https://www.dropbox.com/s/n1hw4huebtuwgqz/MCPProChkA25.zip?dl=0

See if it responds as you would expect and come back to me.

    Thx
    Steve
  • PS: Don't have GIT or the Flight Sim running at the same time as the test.
  • It is a hardware issue. The test program is not registering any button or switch presses. Thanks for the help, guess now I take it apart and see if I can fix it.
  • I would try a PC reboot and unplug the USB cable from the MCP first. Good luck!

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Also try another USB port.
  • Tried another USP port and it workes for about 10 sec and then the panel freezes.
  • Make sure it isn't USB 3, you need USB 2 or USB 1.
  • Yup used 2 separate USB 2 slots. on my external USB hub the buttons do not work at all. I think it may work in the sim now going to try a flight and test it.
