Not working at all

I have ourchased the interface tool as I have new PC running Prepare 3D with a MCPPRO I used with my last FS 4 years ago. It just doesn't work. If I try to load a plane in the set up it just crashes and despite all connections working the MCP PRO still locks up when I turn knobs. Feel like I light have wasted £29.99.

  • I need more information than you have provided. What version of Windows and P3D are you running? What aircraft are you trying to use it with? Can you provide the error message when it crashes?

For a basic test, Can you load up the default beech baron so its in the virtual cockpit. Start GIT and confirm the Detective button is enabled. If so, go to the MCP PRO tab, click FS Default and then enable the MCP PRO in GIT. Quit QIT and reload it. Does the MCP PRO work properly? IF not, what happens? Can you copy and paste the GIT log?

  • Hi Steve

  • Ok, just so I'm clear is GIT crashing or the MCP PRO locking up or both when used with the Beech Baron?

    Thx
    Steve
  • PRO locking up and actually now not showing the correct numbers when matched to the aircraft. THe GIT only crashes when I try to use the IMPORT function under the aircraft it has linked to. All links are green. The MCP firmware is A22.
  • Is your MCP PRO connected to a USB2 or 1 port? It can't be connected to USB3.
  • Once you have confirmed that its connected to USB 2 or 1, shutdown your flight sim and GIT and use this test software from GoFlight to make sure everything is working OK with your MCP: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n1hw4huebtuwgqz/MCPProChkA25.zip?dl=0

    Thx

  • display looked OK with right numbers but when knobs turned it locked up. I have seen comments sbout voltages causing the issue but thst was what I purchased the tool for. Do I need to contact Go Flight?
  • The MCP PRO firmware below A25 causes the lockups. The sliders in GIT help to reduce lock ups by slowing down the commands sent to the MCP PRO, but there is always a risk of a lockup.

We can purse resolving the issues in GIT by getting the Beech Baron to work OK by increasing the CMD and Write Delay sliders on the GIT tab until the MCP PRO becomes more stable or you can contact GoFlight and see if they will upgrade the firmware for you.

Again, double check you have it on USB 2 or 1 as it will cause the MCP PRO to lock up and generally misbehave.

In GoFlights drivers readme.txt file they talk about using USB 1 for older devices that lock up. Not sure if you have an old USB 1 expansion card you could install?

Let me know how you wish to proceed.

  • OK will check the USB ports on the PC with who supplied it and also play with the sliders. Don't have USB 1 so will call Go Flight if this doesn't work.
  • OK, if you still have number mismatch problems, make sure you have set the MCP PRO to compatible add-on in GFConfig, otherwise you will have GIT and the GoFlight drivers both attempting to update the MCP PRO which will not only cause it to lock up but will produce a garbled display.

The sliders will be trial and error as each PC is different. The higher the values, the more sluggish the MCP PRO will feel, but the less likely it will be to lock up.

Once you have a stable system, we can look at the crash you had reported earlier.

    Keep me posted.

    Best wishes
