GIT Showing out_of_bounds & Connection Failed

Hi Folks

So I've just got my sim back up and running again after a long break from FSX, and having now re-setup SimConnect, I have:

PC-1 = Windows 10, 64bit (P3Dv4 Rig) - FSUIPC5 with WideFS & ASNConnect
PC-2 = Windows 7 32bit (Simconnect rig with GF Hardware plugged into this)- WideFS7, Active Sky P4 for P3Dv4, GFConfig 2.28, Loads of GoFlight kit inc MCP Pro, Efis, TQ6, 4 switch panels, Radio stack etc.

I load up the latest GIT on PC-2, I get 3 green lights, then the SimConnect light goes Yellow, and the log is showing this:

This is with the A36 Bonanza loaded in P3Dv4..

So I'm trying to work out why GIT is not working, because its not letting my configure any GoFlight kit, nor use any of my GoFlight kit with the Bonanza?

SimConnect must be working, because I can restart GIT right from within P3Dv4, so the 2 computers are talking to each other correctly, so it must be a configuration somewhere that's gone a bit off..
Active Sky is not connecting to the sim either, seems to be stuck on "Waiting for simulator", but that's another days work I'm sure.

Also curious as to why it shows SimConnect v3.4.0.0?

If there is any help, advice you can provide to get this working, I'd really appreciate that :-)

I have Teamviewer, and work from home all day every day.

Best regards
Rich

  • Sorry Rich, I'm not sure how I missed your post.

The OUT OF BOUNDS error means the GoFlight Interface Module 64.dll is not running or responding. Can you verify its present in dll.xml

    Thx

Hi Steve, many thanks for getting back to me, where will I find the dll.xml file?
I looked in "C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight" but there is no file of that name.

However, I searched in C:\Users\rich\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin and found one there.

Opened it in Notepad and see that when the GIT is installed on my main PC, the one that has P3D on it, this DOES have this:

    GoFlight Module Interface
    False
    C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\GoFlight Interface Module 64.dll

However, my slave PC, the simconnecting one doesn't have P3D installed, so it seems it doesn't even have an "C:\Users\rich\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin" folder to install that file to?
How can I tell the SimConnecting PC that P3D is on the master PC?
  • You need to setup the slave PC with networked Simconnect. This is a good guide: http://forums.bvartcc.com/index.php?topic=4950.0

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Have already done that, and am running v(4.0.28.21686) of P3D v4... Did all that before even installing GIT
  • I would test that the main PC works with GIT using one piece of GoFlight gear so we can eliminate any issues there first.
  • Did that yesterday, installed GIT on the main P3D rig, and plugged in the USB hub with the GF hardware on it and it all started working.

Oddly enough, having now installed GIT on both computers, the slave PC now gives all 3 green lights, no errors, but none of the hardware works on the Carenado Bonanza?

I dont have the 737 installed yet, as I wanted to get the connectivity working and test things with as few addons installed as possible.

With the GF Throttles for example, they are showing as working on the slave PC, but have no affect on the aircraft, regardless of how I try to calibrate :-(

Yet I can still restart GIT from within P3D, so the connectivity is there and working..
  • Is active sky working across the networked Simconnect?
  • Also test with the default Baron as I know the MCP PRO works with that OK.
  • OK, you not going to like this, but have just uninstalled everything except the simconnect software, good detailed disk cleanup of all old files etc and am starting again..

Am only going to install P3Dv4 on main RIG and then the GIT and GFConfig on slave computer.

Only when the controls are working, will I move on to Active Sky. Head hurting and eyes blurry now lol..
  • I wanted to know about active sky because this would prove your networked Simconnect was operating OK.
  • Hi again

So, the plot thickens. After re-installing my entire P3Dv4, this time to C:\Sims instead of its normal path, and then re-installing all 4 simconnect modules on both computers, then reinstalling both GFConfig and GIT, I now have no simconnect connectivity at all.

I also don't have any errors either, only this screenshot.

Took things to the extreme, I went through the entire system registry on the client machine to check and fix file paths, no luck there.

WideFS connects perfect, as do the ipads connect to the client-PC, which is running Remote-Flight, that connects over Wide-FS, so that all works, there is connectivity and its perfect, so something is wrong with SimConnect itself.

Cannot get Active Sky to connect either, it just doesn't want to know.

I tested the kit with GIT on the server PC, and its working fine, only had to move 2 USB plugs to do that, so was easy..

I'm stuck then mate. Don't know what to do next.. Am sort of convinced that Simconnect doesn't work on P3Dv4??
  • Hi,

I put a notice up in the forum that I was on holiday for 10 days, so hence the late reply.

If I recall Wide-FS does not use Simconnect, so this confirms the issue. What versions of Simconnect have you installed on the client-PC?

    Thx
    Steve
  • Hi Steve

So after a bit of a meltdown, and having to refurb the water-cooling, I replaced the slave PC for a new fast one, and set about re-installing Win10 on both, to ensure both PC's match.
Over the last 2 days, I have opted for installing P3Dv3, and NOT v4, as my PC is 6 years old now.

So I almost have everything working, except that when now loading the GIT, the "Simconnect/FSX light stays yellow and the tabs are all greyed out (Still, same as last time)

From within P3D, I can restart GIT, so SimConnect connectivity is there and working.

I took a few screenshots of GIT running on slave PC, whilst sat in the Virtual Cockpit, as per your other tech threads here, that had no affect.
Also downloaded that VC 2013 c++ library, inswtalled, no joy again.

    Am kinda stuck now mate.

The last time this all worked, was in FSX, over a year ago, and I'm literally at the point of quitting this hobby having blown a fortune on it and not being able to use the sim, either that or go right back to FSX, but I fear that will no longer work either as I dont have the old versions of GIT that did work... (2.4 something)

From the 4 pictures, you can see the GIT Connectivity, (It works even before I installed FSUIPC+WideFS), the log it creates, the TABS all greyed out whilst sim is live and running, the 4 Simconnect modules installed on second PC (There are only 4 versions as far as I know) and the C++ modules installed on the computers.

4th picture is the slave PC's screen which is mounted on an arm just under the main 3 screens from the big-rig..

Surely, with everything plugged in, and GIT recognising everything, the tabs should light up and allow me to configure things?

So, any help you can provide at this stage, is desperately needed and appreciated.
I've been missing flying properly for months and months mate... Sick of being a Flight sim problem non-fixer...

Heck I've even bought XP11, and your XP11 GIT, going to try that next...
  • The winsock connection failure and the out of bounds error indicate the GoFlight Interface Module.dll is not running. Check your dll.xml file and make sure it is there and enabled and that it exists in the GIT install directory.

If that is all OK, check the entry in the FAQ called "FSX/P3D/FSX SE Crashes on start up indicating an error with the Goflight Interface Module" here: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/70-faq-goflight-interface-tool.html

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve

Thanks mate, few questions on that...
Where is the dll.xml file I be checking? (Where would it typically be found) and what should I expect to see, that if it is not there, I should put there?
  • edited October 2017
    Its in C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3. Look for a entry called GoFlight Interface Module.dll

If it is not there, run the GIT setup again and it should add it.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • GIT is not running on the same PC as P3D...
GIT Runs on Slave PC, which has all of the GoFlight kit connected to it, and nothing else.
  • OK, the issue must be an invalid networked simconnect config. Does anything else work from the client that relies on it such as Active Sky?
  • I havent installed anything else yet, did want too many cooks spoiling the broth so to speak...

Clearly I need to fool GIT into thinking its on the main PC, so what would you recommend is the best way to do this?

I found the dll.xml file, copy/pasted the FSUIPC entry and simply changed it to load the GoFlight Interface Module.dll using the network share path, so was trying to tell P3D that it needs to load that GIT dll file from the second computer, but alas, that didnt work.

Weird, because GIT reloads when told to, it also picks up the name of the aircraft correctly, but keeps saying "The computer actively refused the connection" quoting a local IP of 127.0.0.0 which is a computers own IP address when it cannot connect.

I even installed the 4 simconnect modules onto the main PC too, so now they are on both computers..
  • I would get GIT working OK on the server first with at least one piece of GoFlight gear attached it so that you know the server side is operating correctly.

I would then disable all firewalls and AV software on both PC's. Make sure GIT frontend is not running on the server (leave it installed as it needs the dll module running on the server only).

Double check you have simconnect setup for working across a network e.g. http://hifisupport.kayako.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/6/8/instructions-for-networked-configuration-with-simconnect

GIT doesn't need any shared folders. Install GIT on the client PC and fire it up.

    Best wishes
    Steve

  • I think were getting somewhere now...

I installed GIT on the main PC, and did nothing else at all, and I got 3 green lights and controls started working.
Not quite properly, but some are now working.

Things like the LGT2, trims will work in 1 direction but not the other, gear up works but gear down doesnt.

Simconnect was setup correctly, it just seems that what you said previously about P3D not loading that xml.dll file must have been the case.

I'm now thinking that because its loading the xml file from its own local install instead of the remote install, this may be why its flakey, and some stuff works and some doesnt?

I was just using the Baron 58, at biggin hill, in P3D v3 for this, but am about to re-install again from scratch due to replacing hard drives and graphics card..

Now I had it working, am confident I can get it working again with P3Dv4, however, would it be wise to edit the dll.xml file to set the network path to "GoFlight Interface Module.dll" so that it doesnt try to use its own local copy?
  • No, it doesn't work like that. The server pc runs the dll within P3D and creates simconnect sessions that GIT communicates with. So long as your client PC has been setup for networked Simconnect it should send the GIT messages over the network to the dll (simconnect sessions).

The dll needs to be running on the server PC only with no GIT frontend running. The client just needs the GIT frontend and no dll.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Hmm, then thats exactly how I had it setup... GIT was installed, but never opened.. GIT was running on the slave PC, all seemed correect and working.
Firewalls remained on, but AV disabled temporarily..

The only thing that actually seemed to make the difference was installing GIT on the main PC, which is when things started to work.
Will do a re-run of P3Dv4 and see how far I get with the setup, from fresh, so it may be a week or two..

Having just replace 2 ATI Radeon 6990's for a 1080ti, and seeing frame rates double @ 7680 x 1440 to 45fps, it kinda bought new life to my sim :-)
  • Yes, that's because installing GIT on the main PC (assuming the server) would have added the dll entry and the dll itself.
  • Figured that was the case... Now I've nailed down the "How to get it all working", I'll set it all up again with v4.. Thanks Steve :-)
  • Righty-o, good news... Got it all working on P3Dv4.1 tonight..

Initial testing with the Baron 58@

    1. Programmed the TQ6 throttles and flaps, all ok... Eventually figure out the "Calibrate" button gave me full throttle..
    2. LGT2 > Bit of a nightmare figuring out the gear up/down, as its not consistent... 1 minute it works fine, then it stops. 2 or 3 up/down selections not doing it fast either, then it just stops working. I do "Gear up, then wait a few seconds after gear is up and lights go out, then do gear down.. wait 5 after the 3 green lights, then gear up.. So, thats an issue now.
    3. T8 - Switch panel - Trying to program 1 switch for parking brake on/off... Holy cow, I dont remember it being as complicated as this. All I want is to have parking brake on + green light on, and Parking brake off, light off.. Any simple advice you can give for this would be awesome. Then I can copy it, as I have 4 switch panels.

But, initial results look like everything is working in terms of simconnect, all I did was install GITv4 on the main PC, put the simconnect files back in the right place and away we went.

Any help you can give with the gear up/down would be awesome...

    Thanks Steve...
    Rich
  • LGT2 - could something else also be driving the LGT, such as GFConfig or FSUIPC and thus interfering?

    Event: PARKING_BRAKES
    Event Action: NOTHING

    Light Data: BRAKE PARKING POSITION
    Light Action: ON_GREATER_THAN
    Light Value: 0

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Thanks Steve, will look at GFConfig tonight, but dont have FSUIPC installed yet. Am working as "plane" as possible (You see what I did there) until its working so as to avoid confusion or other outside interferrence.

Only when the first item is working do I move onto the second, this time. Will let you know how it goes over the weekend.
