1st December: A new version of the GoFlight Interface Tool for MSFS is now available.
12th November: A new version of the GoFlight Interface Tool for X-Plane is now available.
6th June: A new version of Virtual Flight Sim Hardware is now available (huge update)
21st November: A new version of the GoFlight Interface Tool for FSX/FSXSE/P3D is now available.

Nothing works

OK,
I installed everything and it is in the goflight folder.
I open the interface tool and it looks OK. I open the FSX SE sim and I get 3 green lights. Then everything locks up. Sim and all. It does show all of my modules on the top tabs. But I can't click on anything. I have to use task manager to shut them off

I am using surround with Nvidia.
I turned surround off and tried using tool in separate window still locks up.
System is windows 10

At this point I can't do anything with the software at all.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Hans

  • Hi Hans,

What version of the GIT are you using and what version of the GoFlight Drivers are you using?

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • go flight 2.8.0 and I just downloaded the git a couple of weeks ago so I guess the newest.
  • Latest version was uploaded yesterday. Try that first before we do anything else.

    Thanks
    Steve
  • OK.
Surround is on 3 monitors in case that means anything. I was going to hook up a 4th monitor outside of surround and put the GIT on that monitor and see if it did anything.
I'll upgrade to newest version tonight when I get home from work.
    Thanks,
    Hans
  • OK, once you have done that, if you still have problems, see if you click into the log tab and copy and paste it here.

    Best wishes

  • I got the latest version loaded. Just have not had time to try it out. I hope to tonight.
Should it all run ok if I turn off surround and put the VC on one monitor and the GIT on another? Maybe I am just not setting things up right to start with. It is all brand new to me.
I bought a GOflight airline pilot console and am just trying to set it all up. So far it has been very frustrating as the only way I can get any of it to work is with the goflight config software and even then it is hit or miss. The 166s lock up if I turn the MCP rotary to fast, sometimes the 166s don't even turn on at start up, or at least some of them don't.
I'm sure it will all work out but I have never had so much trouble getting something so expensive to work.
  • I had the same problem with my airliner pilot console I bought in 2008 with Windows 7. The GF166's and the GF46 always locked up. I eventually bought more powered hubs and distributed these devices so only one sat on each hub. It vastly reduced the problem, but it did and still happens to me today and to many other people.

The MCP PRO had the same issue until GoFlight updated their firmware to A25 and the lockups stopped. I think GoFlight need to do the same firmware upgrade to GF166 and the GF46, but I'm not sure they are even aware of the problem or prepared to acknowledge the problem (a gentleman here a few weeks ago, could not get his GF166's or GF46 to be reliable at all and GoFlight blamed Windows 10 and his system because their test software worked OK; but I know this issue has been around since 2008 and Windows 7).

GIT doesn't care about surround, it only needs to talk to the dll in the flight sim and Simconnect. The version I uploaded last night has a specific dll for FSX SE now, so I think it will solve your problem.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks so much for the info. At least I know now that I am not crazy It really IS happening! LOL I will keep playing around with it. One other stupid question. How can I get the GIT window to stay open or on top in surround? I open the GIT and then FSX. I pick a plane and fly now. All 3 monitors go to the VC but I can't get the GIT to display unless I go to the addons tab and click the GIT restart. If I try and click a switch in the cockpit, the GIT window goes away. That is why I thought I had to do it in different windows.
  • You need to run the flight sim in a Window (ALT + Enter with the flight sim in focus) whilst you are configuring GIT. If its in full screen mode, it shuts everything else out of the display. Once GIT is configured you can set it start minimised to the task bar via the Settings tab.

Run setup again as it looks like the dll has not been installed and configured. If you still get the error, check the dll.xml file as it should contain the following:
      <Launch.Addon>
        <Name>GoFlight Interface Module</Name>
        <Disabled>False</Disabled>
        <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\GoFlight\GoFlight Interface Module SE.dll</Path>
      </Launch.Addon>
  • I tried to install again but as far as the rest of the reply, I have absolutely no idea what you are even talking about. I am not a programmer.
I've about had it with this mess. It is doing the same thing no matter what I do.
None of the modules come up on the panel unless the goflight software is running. The only way I can make anything work is though their software. I can't get the pollypot stuff to do anything at all.
If you want to try anything remotely, have at it.
  • PM me your Team Viewer 13 ID and password for me to connect
  • Done. Everything is on D drive
  • Can't say thank you enough for remoting in and getting things working.
