2.0.300.0 - Failed to Load Configuation [sic] Data
Hi Steve,
Having difficulties with the JS4100 and GIT v300, alas.
I'm loaded up with FSX and the JS4100 in virtual cockpit view, then cranking open GIT in the normal way. A dialog pops up with the message:
Failed to Load Configuation Data for Device GFDEVHWTYPE_GFMCP
Clicking on OK then gives:
Unable to Load Settings: Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. TAKE A COPY OF YOUR SETTINGS FILE BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE!
A couple of relevant points...
1 - The config file is basically the same as the version I emailed to you most recently (marked 'before') - with the exception that I have today swapped the Airbus's VS rotary Bespoke Events from clockwise to anticlockwise.
2 - The error-message above appears just as readily with the JS41 loaded, and using the original (before) config too (so I am confident it's not a corruption introduced by me saving out the VS-switched settings for the 'Bus today).
3 - The Airbus+GIT combination loads fine - no errors visible in GIT when that's loaded up and the Airbus is ready in FSX.
4 - The JS41 settings in that config file were saved a few days ago, probably in v2.4.1, but possibly the one before. I haven't altered them by hand at all, outside of GIT.
I have a sneaking suspicion (looking at the file) that there might be a spurious extra quotation mark (") in the second block of data, for the Bespokes - but to be honest the file is so difficult to decipher in its 'escaped/quoted' mode, that I can't really say for sure. I'm loathe to try decoding it and returning it to native XML, because I'll likely introduce further conversion errors into the equation - I'm hoping you have a tool at your end, which can turn these blocks into something more readily readable, when you're looking at them!
It does raise the wider point that perhaps the XML in its current form is a tad hard to work with, and maybe that needs to be considered before final release? There are times, even when the ability to 'hard-code' a simple function or two might actually be useful (at least for code-happy geeks like myself), rather than having to use the Detective mode. I appreciate this would be risky and possibly unsupported, but nevertheless, some really simple things are conceivably more easy to just copy-paste-alter, than to fiddle around with using the search-filter-click-and-point method (which I must confess still gives me great grief, in terms of know exactly what will be displayed or logged, sometimes!) ;-)
The XML issue is minor, though, in comparison to why the config file isn't loading. I must confess I'm at a bit of a loss to work out what's occurring here this time, though.
By all means holler if you need a second copy of that config, or other testing done. Cheers
Neil

Hi Neil,
I'll take a look later on, but nothing has changed in the XML part of the program for along time now. The saving bug was just changing the response to certain events - the actual saving code hasn't changed.
I'll get back to you later when I have had a chance to try your config file you sent me the other day.
Best wishes
Steve
Hi Neil,
I haven't forgotten about your problem. I'm waiting for PMDG to reactivate my licence count for the J41 so I can test your config. Hopefully will be sorted this evening.
Best wishes
Steve
Hi Neil,
The config files you sent Monday both loaded OK. However I did notice that the labels for the Goto tasks were missing. I'm guessing these bespoke events were created in an old version that had that particular bug.
Can you email me the config file that is not working for you and I'll try it.
I tested with version 2.0.302.0 (latest release this evening).
Best wishes
Steve
Hi Neil,
I have found and resolved the missing goto labels bug which may have been stopping your config from loading. The fix has been applied in 2.0.339.0
Best wishes

Hi Steve,
Apologies for absence - work commitments - first time I've had a chance to check this out (using v2.0.350.0). I've loaded up my original user.config with the JS4100 loaded, and I get the same error upon starting GIT. I do recall you saying I might have to change something (or even dump my original config and start again, as far as the JS4100 is concerned). I'm just going to see if I can do this via the Detective/Export/Import facility (in order to save losing my Airbus XE settings. Will report back if I get it all going again!
Cheers
Neil
Hi Neil,
I'll try your config on my PC. I do know a couple of people have imported it OK though. I'm thinking your config is corrupt, but I did load it OK last time I tried it - but I'll double check.
Best wishes
Steve
