Startup and configuration

Total newbie here, have some problems. I'm trying to help my father with his FSX install (I'm no pilot, I write software for a living). Am using FSX Accelerator with PMDG NGX 800WL. When FSX starts, it's still loading the original GoFlight PMDG interface program (hereafter referred to as "the Green One") automatically. I'm presuming that's a bad thing but don't know how to shut it off.
When starting FSX, I attempt to load the new program (GoFlight Interface Tool) and it just hangs. This happens whether or not The Green One is loaded or has been stopped. I have indeed followed all the install instructions (I write software for a living so working my around an xml file is no big deal). The program works as expected with the FSX default planes, but freezes when using the PMDG planes.
The software is running under Windows XP (can't change that).
What can I do to get this running?
Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Check the first item in the FAQ under the support menu and let me know if it still doesn't work.

    Best wishes

"The Interface Software Crashes After PMDG SDK License Acceptance" is the "first item" in the Support FAQ. The software doesn't so much "crash" as "freeze". There is no error, it just stops accepting input (cursor stays in the "working in background"/"busy" mode.
"This occurs when a system has had its uiautomationcore.dll files replaced" - how do I know when this activity has occurred? If this is something I need to do, can you please point me at some instructions that are a little less terse than what are supplied in the FAQ.
Again, being unfamiliar with the software in general, I'm not sure how to tell if the software has reached the licensing acceptance point. Any additional tips?

    I suggest the following:

    - Uninstall the Goflight PMDG interface and GIT.
    - Delete the directory (drive):\Documents and Settings\(username)\Local Settings\PollyPot_Software (note this will delete all settings and configs)
    - Install GIT
    - Start GIT and accept the licence agreement (if it appears).

    Best wishes

I think you forgot a layer in your directions. Is the pollypot directory in the AppData dir? I hope so, because that is the one I deleted. I am presuming that "GIT" is the "GoFlightIntefaceTool" and not the VCS. I have uninstalled both programs, reinstalled the GoFlightInterfaceTool and am now getting this error: "Prepar3D registry
appPath entry not found..." I have install the FSX version, what is the problem now?

In addition, a search of the registry for all things "GoFlight" did indeed reveal that there is no entry for Prepar3D - which I expected. I am also now getting an "out of memory" error.
    Next idea, please?

The "accept license" agreement appeared only once, although I have uninstalled/reinstalled three times now. Is there additional registry cleanup that needs to be performed?

The prepar3d error is simply a warning. It can be disabled in the settings tab by unticking Prepar3D support.

No-one has ever reported an out of memory message for either product. Have you tried rebooting? What else is running? Have you checked what is using all the memory?

The license agreement is shown only if it hasn't been previously accepted.

Is Windows Update fully up to date as XP can be?

Is the software now displaying or not?

    Best wishes

    >> OK, I'll look for that.

    >> Yes, tried rebooting, tried cold iron start. Selecting the NGX aircraft seems to cause FSX to run out of memory eventually. Monitoring FSX, I can see the memory useage grow by about 4K every couple of seconds or so until it just runs out of memory. Tried reinstalling all products except FSX itself (major fail if I have to do that).

    >> OK.

Is Windows Update fully up to date as XP can be?
    >> Yes, it was fully updated before MS took the XP update site down.

Is the software now displaying or not?
    >> Displaying, yes. Connecting to FSX, no. Red lights on either side, Yellow in the middle.
