TQ6 Flaps problems in P3D with PMDG777

Hi everyone,
I’m almost complete with an FSX-to-P3D migration but I have one last remaining issue, and it’s a doozy: somehow I’ve messed up my TQ6 flaps function with the PMDG 777.

All versions are current:
 P3Dv4.3
 GIT 3.6.1.1
 PMDG 777 with all updates applied
 FSUIPC 3.152
 TQ6 (not Advanced), 4 throttle arrangement (I also fly the 747 sometimes)

Within P3D my TQ6 axes are all cleared
I also have erased all joystick/axis configurations from FSUIPC
I have the LGT and checked the box to disable the flap switch

I followed the User Guide instructions initially to set up the Flap Axis F and Spoiler Axis A, and they were working OK, but wasn’t happy with the alignment to detents, so I followed the User Guide instructions for setting Area1, Area2, etc.

This made matters worse – the gray boxes looked ok but the Spoiler Arm wasn’t working right and the flaps jumped around (Flaps 5 to Flaps 20 in one millimeter of movement, for example).

So I tried starting over, clearing everything. But now I can’t get the direction working correctly on the Flaps (down is up and up is down, regardless of whether I have the Reverse box checked), and a flap setting that is stable at Flaps 5 on taxi will suddenly jump to 20 without being touched. On takeoff, the Flap direction again misbehaves and my cleanup procedure goes from Flaps 5 to Flaps 1 to Flaps 30.
I’ve tried numerous times to wipe my settings clean and start over, Clearing the axis, Ignoring the axis (this wasn’t good – it caused GIT to lock up upon startup and I had to use Task Manager to exit).

Any theories of what I’m doing wrong, or guidance on how to start fresh?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

  • Small update from my continuing efforts - I seemed to be more successful in clearing the TQ6 Axis settings and actually had spoilers throttles and flaps moving correctly, but noticed at that point the rest of my GF devices had frozen, so I clicked "Restart" on GIT. That caused the Flap and Spoiler settings to be messed up again with backwards and nonlinear movement.
  • I believe Steve is on Summer Break so I’m just talking to myself here :D , but I seem to have resolved the issue by re-selecting the flap and spoiler axes in FSUIPC.
  • A problem remains where my engine reversers don’t deploy properly like they used to (increasing reverse thrust). I’m burning through a lot of brakes
  • Can you test them at stand still one at a time and tell me in detail what happens.

    Thanks
    Steve
  • What happens (same for each engine) is the Reverser activates, the spoilers deploy both physically (the cowling) and on the cockpit screen. But then the Reversers don't increase in reverse thrust. Within seconds the engine cowling returns to the non-reversed position.

It's as if the "repeat" command isn't triggered even though I'm holding the reverser button in place.

I've now programmed a workaround with FSUIPC so essentially I'm bypassing GIT for the TQ6
