Zibo 737 - MCP Pro - not all lights work

Most specifically the LNAV and VNAV don't light up. They engage in the cockpit, they just don't light up on the hardware. Anyone else have this problem?

  • Hi,
Intermittently. Sometimes they work perfectly, others not but the lights are recognised in the sim. I press it off and on again and 99.9% of the time it works. Conversly, if you press the button in the sim, the lights on the goflight modules work perfectly.
I've tried changing the settings for the button hold time but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Maybe play around with more settings to see if they help.

  • It's a bummer that it isn't consistent, and especially that it can't "just work". I've found that happens with several different components. What you think is going to make an action behave a certain way doesn't always result in it working correctly. :(

  • That is why I went back to Prepar3d. The MCP and EFIS work flawlessly on the PMDG 737
  • That's a tough one for me though. I've been flying X-Plane for years and really love it. I've purchased many planes and just enjoy it, the graphics, the experience, etc. I've heard (though never actually seen) that Prepar3d isn't the same quality visually?

  • I agree, Xplane is visually superior to Prepar3d. But I prefer a MCP to perform as realistic as possible and that is what you get in Prepar3d
  • I have all the lights working for me with my Rotate MD-80 MCP Pro. This weekend I'll work on completing the ZIBO mod. This isn't really that hard, it's just a paradigm shift from the kind of software development that I'm used to. I do understand why Steve did it the way he did. The communication between the hardware and the software isn't entirely easy and providing a UI that we users can exploit is a challenge as well, especially making it intuitive to the non-developer.

  • I am currently finishing off a new app which has a graphical UI for creating virtual flight sim hardware on tablets which can be configured just like GIT. GIT will be moved into this new code base and will look and behave more like GFConfig but still have all the advanced functionality that is needed - so it should address some of the issues beginners/non developers have. Expect it around April next year.

  • Question, can't the programming of goflight components be done with a plugin for X-Plane and therefor no need for GIT? I've seen an older goflight plugin on .org that had some functionality in the zibo mod but it's outdated and needs updating, maybe for x-plane thats the route to go?

  • Hi Jim,

It would require building a brand new program, so effectively starting from scratch - it just wouldn't be commercially viable.

    Best wishes
