GIT (SE) Failure - MS.NET Framework Error

Encountered problem starting the GIT (SE) - everytime I try to start the app, I get the followiing Microsoft.NET Framework error message: "Unhandled Exception has occurred in a component in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. The type initializer for "A" threw an exception." When I click the Continue button, I keep getting this error message.
This problem occurs only if I attempt to start the GIT SE app - it doesn't occur if I run the GIT P3DV4 app. Also this is the first time I've encountered this error. I have regularly ran the GIT SE App successfully at least daily for the past 3 weeks. The only change is that yesterday (Jan 9), the 2019-01 Cumulative Update to Windows 10 Version 1809 was installed on my PC; this update included a cumulative update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.7.2.

  • Can you do a screen dump of the error for me.

    Thanks
    Steve
  • The first file is the first screen message that appears after trying to start the GIT(SE) app; The second text file is from the "Details" button on the MS.Net Framework error message I referenced in my previous post. Hope this helps
  • The error is because GIT cannot find Simconnect.dll. Not sure why the Windows update would have deleted that file. I think you can install Simconnect again from the SE directory.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Steve - I did a search for the Simconnect.dll file and the results are attached (i.e. the simconnect.dll is in fact in the SE directory.) What I find interesting is the original error message said the GIT couldn't find the "Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.dll" file; note that in the attachment, there are files by that full name but they are located in the FSX/SDK subdirectories and not in the FSX root. Don't know if that matters.
In your comment, you said I can install Simconnect from the SE directory - could you let me know how to do this?
    Thanks for your help

  • I think a Steam repair would do it.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Steve - I just completed verifying the integrity of the Steam files and the response was all files were successfully validated. Attempted to relaunch the GIT and it failed with the same error. Any other ideas?
  • Well, the miraculous just happened - I restarted my computer and took a stab at relaunching the GIT and presto - it's up an running. Don't know why (my computer has been on and off several times since the error first occurred) but who cares - it works!! Thanks for your help
    Regards
