PMDG 747-8 MCP Never Shows Digits, only dashes in Display
Hi,
P3D v4.4 under Win10
My PMDG 737 NGX and 777 work fine with the MCP as it shows the digits and I can control with knobs.
However, the 747-400 or the 747-8 show only dashes when up and running in P3D v4.4
I looked at the FAQ and attempted all the suggestions, but could not get it to work.

Two other people have had this issue with different PMDG aircraft and the only fix is a complete reinstall of flight sim. Basically the PMDG SDK ignores the GIT requests for data. I think it must be a bug in the PMDG SDK under certain conditions - perhaps other addons interfere.
Best wishes
Steve
You mean re-install the 747-8, and not P3D?
Bill
No, I mean everything. I spent loads of time analysing Simconnect logs with the two other people who had this problem to try and resolve it, but GIT is doing everything as expected, but the PMDG SDK or Simconnect just ignore the requests. I have no idea why except the theory that other add-ons may be interfering in some odd way.
I would double check you have done everything in the FAQ and try disabling any flight sim add-ons that use the PMDG SDK. If all else fails, its a complete rebuild.
Best wishes
Steve
What if I uninstall/reinstall the simconnect modules. There are 3 simconnects from FSX, and a newer one from P3D?
I don't know if I can directly access the PMDG SDK.............is it possible?
Bill Clark
I went back through the FAQ section pertaining to my display "dashes" issue and here is step #8:
8) If the above does not work, uninstall the aircraft concerned and reinstall making sure you use or update to the very latest version of the aircraft.
Bill Clark
There is a 32bit and a 64bit version of GIT for P3D v4. Try both. This issue only started with P3D v4 which makes me think its a very odd bug in Simconnect 64Bit.
Best wishes
Steve
Prior to updating to your latest version of GIT, I believe I was running a 64 bit version. Which was working for a long time with the PMDG 737, 777, and 747. One day, could have been with a Microsoft update, who knows, it just stopped working with the 747, but continues functioning with the 737 and 777.
So I will uninstall my 64-bit Git and install the 32 bit version. Depending on what happens, I will uninstall the 32 bit version and try the 64 bit GIT version again.
I also may uninstall the PMGD 747 completely, and reinstall.
Bill Clark
I tried both the 32 and 64 bit GIT's and they both failed with the PMDG 747.
However, they both worked with the PMDG 737NGX and 777.
Tomorrow I will true doing a full uninstall and reinstall of the 747.
Bill Clark
Completely uninstalled all PMDG 747 versions, and re-installed them as per PMDG giudelines, but the issue still remains.
This is unfortunate, as I fly the freighter version of the -8 all the time now.
Looks like I will have to do without the GoFlight MCP and EFIS..........really too bad.
