Frustrated beyond words

Steve,

I’ve had more trouble with GIT and GoFlight hardware since P3Dv4 came out than I care to discuss. I had everything working with v4.0 then v4.1 came out. Nothing has worked since. I gave up in GIT AND GF for a while, opting instead to do some flying rather than spending inordinate amounts of time trying to track down why it’s not working. I updated to 4.2 when it came and again reinstalled GIT and GF. Still, nothing works. I recently ran into a problem with a corrupted scenery file and spent 3 weeks trying to track that down. I eventually threw my hands up and uninstalled everything related to P3D, starting over from scratch. I left GF and GIT for last. When I run GIT, it freezes and does nothing. I can only shut it down via the Task Manager.

GIT ran very well prior to P3Dv4.1. I simply can’t get it to work with these later versions. I’m running the latest GIT, GF, P3Dv4.2 with the GF MCP Pro, 2 EFIS Control Panels and LGT II.

I’m headed to work for a 4-day trip. Will look for a response soon.

Thanks,

Terry Swindle

  • Hi Terry,

LM borked something in Simconnect for 4.1/2. Have you tried using the 64Bit version of GIT?

I will be getting a new version out soon which will hopefully sort out some of the issues.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Steve,

Yes, using 64bit version. I have training coming up in April and use this hardware to prep. Will keep an eye out for new version.

Thanks, as always, for your fast response!

    Regards,

    Terry

PS....I got to fly one of our new 737 MAX-8s last week. Nice machine!
  • Steve,

Our last discussion here was March 6th. A new long distance relationship which started that same month has consumed nearly all my free time and seen me spending most of my time at her home in Dallas. However, I recently started trying to get GIT working again but with absolutely no luck. I’m using the latest 64bit GIT with the latest LM P3D version. I’ll be around tomorrow but back in Dallas Sunday morning. It’s anyones guess where I’ll be during October!

    Thanks,

    Terry
  • Hi Terry,

Try using the 32bit version of GIT for P3D as this will work with P3Dv4 as well. What aircraft are you using it with?

  • Hi Steve,

I hung it up with GIT and the PMDG 737 for a while. I'm coming up on more than 2 years since my GF MCP Pro and 2 EFIS Control Panels have worked. I started attempting getting it running again, including your suggestion above (32bit version) and still nothing works. I DID get ONE FD Switch to work, but only once. That's the most I've seen out of this hardware in two years. I started from scratch today and reinstalled everything per the installation guide on your FAQ page. Nothing. Everything lights up in GFConfig but doesn't work when connected to P3D and the PMDG 737. I'd to think that the more than $1200 I have invested in GF equipment isn't wasted. I rarely had problems in FSX. I've had nothing but problems since migrating to P3D many years ago. I just updated to P3D 4.5. I'd like to give this one last try before selling it all in frustration.

    Thanks,

    Terry
  • Hi Terry,

I think there is a very rare bug with P3D v4 and PMDG but what causes it is unknown. I have done a detailed analysis of the issue with another customer and for some reason GIT requests the data and either P3D or the PMDG SDK ignores the request. Its not GIT as its the same code that works fine in FSX, FSX SE and P3D 32Bit.

Having said that, its always been fixed by a fresh install of Windows and P3D if the items in the FAQ don't solve it.

  • Thanks Steve.

I just looked back over my history of support requests on this forum and found that I've had trouble with EVERY version of P3D/FSX/GIT since February 2015. It actually goes back further than that to when Lefteris provided the GF interface (which was hideously expensive). I have spent considerably more time trying to get/keep my GF hardware working than actually enjoying flying with it. Reinstalling Windows means wiping out everything on my drive. I have several other sim platforms to consider, not to mention a plethora of addons within P3D itself. I have reached the point where this game of compatibility issues/bugs is no longer worth the frustration. Having hardware to interact with is great, but moving buttons and knobs with a mouse comes without the frustration and expense.

Thanks for your help over the last four years. I really appreciate it despite the few successes I've been able to enjoy.

  • Steve,

It’s that time for me in which I drag out the manuals and start getting ready for recurrent 737 training to maintain employment with my airline. Given previous frustrations mentioned above, I had dismantled all my GoFlight hardware and decided to sell it. I was very surprised to get no offers, not even a single inquiry, despite posting on a very popular P3D Facebook page. With that in mind, I decided today to check for an updated GIT Tool and saw that there was one. I unpacked my MCPPro and 2 EFIS Panels and gave it a whirl. Previous versions of the GIT were inaccessible, only showing a spinning progress circle and never allowing me to access anything. I didn’t get that with the latest version. For the first time in four years, my hardware is working perfectly with one exception. The APP button doesn’t appear to be working. I will play with it as it may simply be a hardware failure.

At any rate, I wanted to let you know that I’m back up and running. BTW, do you have any information on what’s going on at GoFlight? I know they were bought out and their website seems to be in transition at the moment. I’m unable to check for an updated GFConfig utility. The last I have I believe is 2.28.0(?).

    Thanks!

  • Hi Terry,

Use this MCP PRO test software to check your APP button: https://www.dropbox.com/s/n1hw4huebtuwgqz/MCPProChkA25.zip?dl=0

GoFlight are launching a new website this month and busy building new products for release in 2020.

You have the latest GoFlight drivers.

    Best wishes
