Suddenly P3D crashes at startup when GoFlight Interface Module is enabled
Hi,
Without any (obvious) reason, I cannot start P3D (v2.4, on Windows 8.1) anymore. I get a Fatal Error occurred before the splash screen disappears. See event logs below.
Even when I disabled all other plugins (in dll.xml and exe.dll), P3D crashes. I get a consistent crash when GIT is enabled, and get P3D to start when GIT is disabled. I tried a lot of combinations, put GIT as first module, but to no avail.
I also did a "repair" using the GIT installer. No luck either.
Can you give me and advice, or is there more information I can send you to track down the problem?
Thanks!
Emile.

Have you installed the PMDG 777 into Prepar3d? If you have it breaks GIT and I'm still investigating the issue. See http://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/forum.html#/discussion/167/pmdg-777-for-p3d-v2-5-pmdg-dll-xml-entry-will-prevent-git-from-working-correctly

Hi Emile.
If you haven't installed any other scenery or aircraft recently then I suggest reinstalling GIT.

I'm seeing this problem now in FSX. I noticed a load of Windows updates happened for me yesterday so I think it must have something to do with those. I'll investigate.

The windows update could very well be the problem indeed. I remember that I got an update too. I'm not 100% sure that was the breaking point but might be.
Thanks!
-Emile.
Ok, found the issue:
1) Open regedit
2) Goto the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
3) Delete the key "C:\\Games\\FSX\\fsx.exe"="$~ RUNASADMIN IgnoreFreeLibrary<Goflight Interface Module.dll>" obviously changing the text in bold to be your flight sim version and its location.
Yes, that solved the problem. Wow, I'm impressed with your quick response.
Best regards,
Emile.
Great. It took me hours to track that problem down!
Best wishes
