GIT 64-bit EXE causing P3Dv4.5 to CTD on change of aircraft

Hi Steve,

I'm having a problem with GIT 64-bit EXE v 3.7.0.1. I'm currently beta testing an aircraft which is configured in three different panel setups. They can have the Flight1 GPS gauge inserted on two configurations but I'm just testing the version that uses the Rex Wx radar.

If I load one configuration for which I have configured some T8 switches for battery, avionics etc the aircraft is fine. But if I then choose another livery of the same type P3D CTDs. I have tested this selection with and without GIT running and it only happens with GIT running.

But here is the strange thing. In Event Viewer there are two crash reports:- The first is a .NET runtime and the second is P3D itself but the module causing the problem is Rex's Weather Radar gauge which I have installed yesterday.

Could there be some conflict between GIT and the Wx Radar gauge? Here are the crash reports...

  • Steve, please remove that txt attachment. If I try it just returns an error.

  • Do you see those LUA errors with other aircraft?

I only have the radar gauge installed in the aircraft I’m testing. The other aircraft I fly that uses GIT is the PMDG737 which already has a radar installed. I’ll try it in a Carenado PC12. I accept it’s not usual to change liveries within the sim but it’s odd doing it should crash P3D.

Just a reminder to remove that GIT Error Log please.

  • Hi again Steve,

I installed the Rex Wx gauge in a Carenado PC12 and performed the same test. Without GIT 64-bit running I was able to swap liveries without issue and even switched to an Avatar and then back to the PC12.

But once GIT was running swapping from one livery to another in the Vehicle menu crashed P3D v4.5.

  • Don't install the gauge and check if the LUA errors appear. I'm trying to determine if its LUA that is the underlying issue.

    Thanks
  • Steve,

i renamed the gauge dll to dl# so it wasn't loaded. Multiple changes of aircraft livery and panel configurations and no problems with P3D. GIT 64-bit running of course.

The radar gauge is on sale for under $10 if you're interested. http://www.rexsimulations.com/radar.html

  • Did the LUA errors disappear from the log when testing?
  • Steve, is the log saved somewhere or just displayed in the Status window?

  • You can add /log to the GIT icon Target field and it will output to a text file in the GIT directory.
  • Thanks Steve. I’ll setup the scenario tomorrow and supply the log.

  • Hi Steve. Two logs attached suitably named. Just a change of livery for the same aircraft is enough to kill P3D.

  • Its certainly an odd one. I'll look into it once I have finished Alpha testing a new product as it may take sometime to track down.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Roger that Steve, thanks.

  • Hi Steve,

Have you had a chance to look at why GIT is causing CTDs when I change aircraft in P3D v4.5? I didn't load it today and switched to several airports and changed vehicle a number of times. No CTD at all. But as soon as I load GIT and change vehicle P3D CTDs. 100% guaranteed every time.

I can get around it by stopping and restarting GIT when I load a different aircraft but a solution would be better.

  • Ok Ray, I'll look into it.

    Thx
    Steve
  • Steve, just to clarify, it’s not just a change of aircraft. Choosing the same aircraft with a different livery also causes the CTD.
