No Radios Working in FS2020

Hi Steve,
I suspect this is some sort of USB / power issue out of your control but perhaps you or a forum member might have an idea.
I have several GF radio devices - two GF-166A's, a GF-46, 3 GF-45's.

They "light up" when Windows is booting - i.e. the displays come on and LED's light up, indicating that Windows sees the hardware.
But I get no response when I try to use them in GFIT for FS2020. I had the same issue with GF for XPlane. Click "Identify" and nothing lights up.
I have tried setting "USB 2 compatible mode" on and off in BIOS and no effect.
They are plugged into powered USB hubs, but I have also tried them directly connected to my PC but no luck.

Any thoughts? I bought a Saitek radio stack to use with XPlane and that was my workaround, but my GF units are all built into a cockpit dash so it would be nice to get them alive again.

Thanks,
Rowland

So just as a user with MSFS2020 and also X-plane 11. I have the quad stack of GF-166s but I will attest that they don't work in the airliners like active and standby, displays etc, while still running into bugs and all the stuff you'd expect.. There must be something on the backend not quite right, but Xplane 11 works as expected. Mine are plugged into a powered USB hub, and that goes out into the 2.0 usb on the motherboard. Hope that helps narrow your search down.
  • Hi Rowland,

The GF166's are really finicky. They locked up for me using GoFlight supplied USB hubs. It takes ages to get them to settle, trying various hubs and quantity of hubs. Search the forum, their are countless discussions on the subject and various solutions people have found.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Thanks guys, I figured it was a hardware issue. I have searched the forums and tried things recommended but so far no go. Once MS gets the SimConnect stutters straightened out (apparently connecting Saitek controllers works but causes stutters), I may just revert to using the Saitek radios. Maybe the "new guard" at GoFlight can figure things out eventually. Even a same-sized replacement would be better than a non-working radio built into my panel.
