Problem: X-Plane 11.50 crashes when activating GFIT - Detective

After using GFIT for FSX and P3D4.5 for a few years, I recently purchased GFIT for X-Plane, as I want to program my GoFlight modules for the FF B767. Started using Detective, programmed a few bespoke events, assigned those to a few buttons/rotaries on a RP48. So far, so good.

Unfortunately, every time I now want to use Detective from GFIT, XP11.50 crashes (CtD, askes whether I want to send an error report). Any ideas on what causes this, and what I can do to repair it?

Thanks in advance, regards,
Bert

  • To see if there is a corrupt file at play, try renaming Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool. You will temporarily lose your config data, but see if Detective starts up.
  • Thanks for your reply. Have been ill for about a week, so couldn't check.

Before trying out your suggestion, I took advantage of an update of the FF B767: after the update it worked as before. Unfortunately, this didn't last long: as XP11 was running together with Detective for the B767, I switched to the FJS B727 (might have been the other way around): and again, XP11 crashed. Restarting XP11 and Detective for B767: again, an XP11 crash.

Then I tried your suggestion: and indeed, Detective started up and XP11 kept running. Problem of course was loss of config data; when I tried to put (part of) it back: again crashes.

Using Detective with the FJS still worked, so I started programming functions for the CIVA INS. Worked well, till I tried to program a 'Call' on an MSU decrease command: GFIT crashed, XP11 kept running. Restarting GFIT resulted in a crash of XP11. I restarted XP11, then GFIT: it works again, but I lost work of about an hour.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm using GFIT for P3D with PMDG B737 and B747 quite extensively, and never encountered a problem; the difference might be that with PMDG I don’t use Detective. For some reason, in XP11 it's quite 'nervous'; and like this it's neither much fun nor very useful.

I hope you have a solution for the problem. Thanks in advance for your reply.

  • Is it only crashing with 3rd party aircraft?
  • It crashes with the FlightFactor B767 and the FlyJSim B727. I haven't tried with standard aircraft, as I'm not planning in using those.

It's working now, more or less, with the B727. I'm saving my commands and assignments every few minutes. Even then, I lost some of those after a session. It means I'm always hoping it won't crash (again). Haven't tried again with the B767, as the last time I tried XP11 crashed immediately
  • It shouldn't be doing this. I will look into it after the xmas break to try to get to the bottom of why these 2 aircraft are causing issues.
