MCP PRO and EFIS Freeze After a Period of Time

Hello, I’m on P3D4.5 HF2 and using the 64 bit gfit. With some aircraft, the MCP pro will eventually stop working. Displays are frozen and no inputs work. The efis is in the same boat although sometimes it works a little bit longer. The only way to restart it is to unplug the MCP pro and shut down/restart gfit. This doesn’t always work to restart things. It doesn’t seem to be an issue with PMDG aircraft, but two third party profiles (one of which I created), the Aerosoft CRJ and Majestic Q400 consistently have this happen. Thanks for any help!

  • That sounds like a hardware lockup, probably power management issues. Have you disabled power management in Windows on all USB hubs etc? Try using USB2 ports.

  • Thanks Steve, I hadn’t realized the issue with power management for USB hubs so i have disabled that and plugged my MCP PRO into a power USB 2 hub and it looks to be working better now, thanks!
  • Hi Steve, looks like I spoke too soon. I've had some follow on flights where the MCP stops responding after a period of time. On one flight, it was gradual - first the displays stopped updating but the aircraft was still receiving the inputs for a while before that stopped too. This does seem to be specific to the Q400 and CRJ. I've also been flying the Carenado B1900 just using defaults (no profile) and that works fine. The PMDG aircraft work fine as well. Any other thoughts on what could be causing this aircraft-specific?
  • Your firmware of the MCP is above A22?
