Registrations Excceded and Installed Folders Woes

Still some uncertainty as to install locations for P3Dv4 installs.

I have read all the install instructions, FAQ's and dozens of forum posts. Could just be me, sorry.

I have both GIT FS2020 and GIT P3dV4_64. I'm hoping to be able to use both on the same PC. I have previously.

Complete new installs.

Because of install/uninstall issues troubleshooting these installs I created a folder in my C:Programs Files called "GoFlight2020" GIT MSFS2020 installed fine there and it works in all FS2020 default aircraft.

The latest 2017 version of GoFlight drivers will only work in P3Dv4_5 default aircraft if I install it in Program Files (x86). It will not function in C:Program Files. Once installed there I can use it to control P3D default aircraft, irrespective of GIT, as it should be.

After these installs I can fly FS2020 aircraft with the 2020 version of GIT, or simply fly a default aircraft with just the GoFlight drivers running. Again, all good.

The issue I'm running into is trying to install GIT for P3DV4. The instaler WILL NOT give me an option to install it in c:Program Files (x86) so it is in the same folder with the GoFlight drivers, per the install instructions. IF FACT, when I run the installer it installs GITP3Dv4 into the newly created GoFlight2020 folder, odd as that sounds. It may be just the GoFlight portion as destination was enough. Again, odd, but I just don't know.

So I'm thinking, OK, let's see if P3Dv4 GIT will launch and run from the GoFlight2020 folder.

I run the icon and get a registration window. VERY good sign I'm thinking. But then I get an exceeded install error and I'm dead in the water after nearly five hours of troubleshooting this situation this morning.

Frustrating, but I know it comes with the turf.

Anyway, I sent the error code for the registration issue along, and will look forward to hopefully receiving some diection as to how to get GITP3Dv4 and GoFlight drivers into the same folder so I can also use the GoFlight modules with default aircraft without GIT as well as FS2020.

Thanks Steve,

Bob

  • Got it!!! Never mind Steve, finally have a functioning set of modules. I removed everything related to GoFlight and GIT on my PC, ran CC Cleaner a few times to find anything left over. Placed everything per instructions and all is good. Mind you that is for my 737NGXu. Now comes the ongoing tasks of assigning buttons and switches. All in good time. I'll worry about the FS2020 placement a bit down the road. I now have the setup to fly, learn and become better in the 737 over the next few years until it all changes again with PMDG and FS2020. As always, thankyou for all you do for all of us, your patience and efforts greatly appreciated. I've been waiting 5 years to get to this point, post retirement. Hopefully now I can truly have the time to become proficient with this amazing aircraft. GIT for DCS, say it ain't so. That's going to be a hoot. Sure glad I did not throw these GoFlight modules in the $hitcan as I have been SOOO tempted to do over the past few years. Again, thanks for keeping all of us going! Bob
