using rotary knob (RP48) to control panel lighting in msfs 2020 default cessna

I spent a good part of the day struggling how to get a rotary knob to adjust the brightness of the panel light like you can do with the scroll wheel of the mouse. I used detective to see what is being used with regard to events and lvars and tried to setup a bespoke event but can't get it to work. Has anyone mapped any of their gf rotary knobs to adjust the cockpit lighting?

Thanks
Bill

  • You would need two events. One for clockwise which would add 1 to the panel light variable, and one for anti-clockwise which would subtract 1 from the panel light variable.

Alternatively, there may be SimConnect events that can be assigned directly to the rotary.

    Best wishes
