GIT 2.1.7.0 and PMDG 777 GF-EFIS

Hi!

If I turn the Baro knob at the EFIS the values at the PMDG 777 counts up (or down) and don't stop anymore. If I then rotate the knob fast in one or the other direction the value's at the 777 stop (and that not always). Pressing the Baro knob I can set to "Standard" Altimeter without problems.

Is there something wrong with my GIT installation? At the PMDG 737NGX the Baro knob works without problems.

I remember one thing. I already used GIT 2.1.7.0 before I installed the PMDG 777 (the Box Version from Aerosoft) As I startet up FSX and the 777 and started GIT I get a warning message "FSX ini file not found, PMDG options file cannot be checked/updated". Then I found a solution that I must go to the "777X_Options.ini" and fill in the entry
[SDK]
EnableDataBroadcast=1

After that the warning message didn't pop up at loading the 777. But sometimes I have the problem that the Heading, Altitude Displays don't work. If I turn the rotaries at the 777 the values move up and down, but at the MCP Pro there ist only "0". In the most cases it helps to load GIT before starting FSX.

I don't know whether this 2 problems have the same reason. Hope I could explain this problem(s).

Regards,
Martin

  • Hi Martin,

    I'm seeing that EFIS behaviour also. Having debugged the code (which is the same used for the NGX), I think its a bug with the 777 as GIT stops transmitting but the 777 keeps changing the numbers. The problem exists in the Prepar3D version as well. I will report it to PMDG.

    There are two main reasons for the numbers not displaying on the MCP. The first you have identified (fix is in 2.1.9.0 when its released). The second is the PMDG SDK has a quirk in that it stops working if you load or change the 777 when the 777 is already loaded e.g. changing from one variant to another. PMDG have known about this issue since the NGX. With the 777 you should see a pop up warning if you do this so you are made aware 777 add-ons will break such as GIT.

  • Hi Martin,

    Heard back from PMDG and they are looking into it.

    Hi Martin,

    Workaround from PMDG as follows - Note that I will need to release a new version at the weekend to change the EFIS controls from MOUSEDRAG back to ROTATE to get this to work:

    Steve,

    Still waiting for a response from Alex on this - sorry it's taking so long. We're really busy right now with all the updates and trying to get the new 747 ready to test. I do have an idea myself though - in the 777 the EFIS control knob behavior was changed vs. how it works on the NGX. The real life knobs are actually a turn-and-hold spring loaded type of thing with about 45 degrees of motion in either direction possible before it hits the stops. Deflecting the knob more results in faster acceleration of the value being entered on the PFD. They aren't free rotating knobs like they are in the NGX, which actually models them incorrectly. In the 777 we did add an option in SP1 to make the knobs operate the same way the NGX ones do - that's available at MENU > PMDG SETUP > OPTIONS > SIMULATION > page 3, MINIMUMS & BARO KNOBS. Try setting it to the rotary option and see if that produces the behaviour you want from the SDK events. Ryan Maziarz
