configuring GIT for G166 radios

I need help using GIT to configure my GF166 radios. No matter what I set the GF166 do not respond (no lights, actions). The GIT identify button does nothing?????? MCPRO, LGTII, etc. doesn't respond either.
Please help.

  • Use Windows Explorer to go into the GoFlight drivers directory, right click on Windows8Fixer.cmd and select Run As Administrator. If this does not fix the problem, remove ALL GoFlight hardware and repeat; then reconnect the GoFlight hardware. Repeat this process until it all works with Identify button.

Also GF166's are notorious for locking up (its a hardware issue and nothing to do with GIT). You can search the forum for various work arounds people have done to stabilise them.

  • I have gone through your GF Interface Tool installation and setup instructions many times and can't get GF modules programed/operating. What am I doing incorrect??? I am using DAHR930 and downloaded asobo zip file. Seems to be the only aircraft download file available.

    1. Open FS2020/select dahr930- in cockpit
    2. Open GIT
    3. IMPORT 930 zip file. loads is successful.
    4. GREEN lights on

No response from any modules (no lights, actions or aircraft response) ??????

Repeated the process but used DEFAULT FS option. No affect. No modules respond.

    Tried manual programming. No response.

    Please help!

  • Have you enabled the devices in GIT? Does the Identify button light up the relevant device?

  • Done all of the steps, even had help from David W. of Goflight. 166 radios don't function.

Is there a solution to these issues?

    1. GF-ATC module not listed in GIT.
    2. LGT-II module not listed?
    3. After programming in GIT MESM does nothing?

    Thanks

  • In GIT on the GF166 tab, select device 0 and then click the identify button. It should light up. If it doesn't you most likely need to implement the Windows 8 Fixer solution as detailed in the GIT installation page (important section) here: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/user-guide-git/16-installation/263-installation-fs2020.html

If that doesn't work, confirm the GF166 lights up when plugged into the USB port or when the PC boots up. If it doesn't try another USB port. If that doesn't work, you may have faulty hardware.

Let me know the outcome of the above and we can move on to the next steps.

    GF-ATC is not supported.

    LGT-II is supported.

As for the MESM, confirm its enabled. If so, let me know how you have configured it so I can check the config.

  • Results of above steps -

Ran Windows8 fixer. GF166 lights up when usb connected

GF166 - No identify light, no action after programming manually or importimg asobo 166 xml /zip files

    MESM - no responses

SECM - Some switches work, not all

LGT-II - not listed in GIT tabs

Running TBM930 in fs2020. GIT setting is ASOBO_TBM930. GIT status lights are green.
If I need other aircraft settings files I can"t locate them. Only zip file I have is ASOB tbm930 downloaded from your site.

    Thanks for helping!

  • Perhaps my GIT files are not in the correct location! Please send outline of PC location for GIT files, including the ASOBO aircraft zip files.
  • It sounds like your GF166 is locking up. You will need to try different USB ports, hubs etc until it stops locking up. They are notorious for doing this. Its a GoFlight hardware issue.

The MESM will need configuring for it to do something.

If not all switches in the SECM are working, its probably because the aircraft in use has not been designed to respond to the events the SECM has been configured with. You would need to use Detective to determine what events the aircraft uses and reconfigure the SECM as necessary.

If the LGT is not appearing in GIT, then its either faulty or you have it plugged into a USB port that is not functioning.

All this has nothing to do with GIT file locations.

  • Any answer????

@Kenw , nowhere in your posts do I see how you’ve connected your GoFlight units to your computer. Here’s what I did and all 8 operate perfectly.

I bought this from Amazon. Xiatiaosann 2 Pack 2 Port USB 2.0 Rear Panel Expansion Bracket.

It connects to USB2 Header on my mobo. No modern mobos have USB2 ports so you have to adapt. Providing your mobo has USB2 Headers you’ll be fine.

Then I bought a powered USB2 hub (backward compatible USB3) should be okay. Plug your GoFlight units into the hub that’s plugged into one of the ports on the expansion bracket.

All my units work perfectly including two GF166s.
    Cheers,

You will get a pop-up notification when starting GIT if there is an update available.
