Generic panel setup for X plane

Hi,
I am a newbie to this forum and have been using anothers software until it has failed and been unsupported. I say this because whilst i am not new to flight sim I have no experience of setting up this program and need guidance to make it swift and correct if possible.

I have a GF -Css panel with 4 x Gf -166 and a  p 46 on the same plate plus P 45 and 2x P 8   + MCP-pro. These are setup on a board and linked to PC with direct usb connections using Windows 7 and the latest updated X Plane software.

What is the easiest way to get them working? Can I download say an MCP Pro from the A320 offered EVEN though I am installing it into an "Eclipse 550 small jet" and then say Gf -166 from ? in the same manner i.e. cherry pick from existing installations one by one. Where can I find a setup for the GF-166 for instance does anyone have this file ready made i.e. 2x com  2x nav + 1x Xpndr
I also use a separate screen for G map and PMRJ instruments and would like to know if there are any issues with this.

I have all my X plane on a separate drive except that which only works on the C drive etc. I first tried installing this prog in the plugins folder on the F drive ( Xplane ) but it did not like that it seemed. I ended up putting it in the C drive as the default download screen on the installer. Is this correct ?  It seems to work but then is it the right place ?
Sorry for any questions which may have been answered already but I am assuming the main body of questions do not apply to X plane as its support here seems to be recent. Thank you for supporting X Plane we need it.

Regards

David

  • This is the flight panel set up, hopefully although uploading seems a problem  @ 284 kb
It would be very good if there was a library of instrument set up scenarios which were downloadable as generic but fully serviceable items. Though not specific to a particular aircraft they would satisfy people like me who are not that worried about the specific instrument aircraft thing but want an overall experience with as much control as possible. The difference between how an instrument is configured from one plane to the next may not be of note to some, but I also appreciate it may be to others.
The prefix sim/ in the Go Flight set up panel refers to ?
    Thank you

  • Hi David,

X-Plane support is very new and still in Beta and being developed. All existing profiles only work for FSX/Prepar3D/FSX SE.

A list of datarefs (variables) are available here: http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xpsdk/docs/DataRefs.html

A list of commands (events) are listed in the text file Commands.txt in the X-Plane plugins directory.

There is an online user guide under Support on this website. Although it talks about FSX, the principles and operating is exactly the same.

The MCP, MCP PRO and LGT tabs have a button to pre-configure the devices. All other devices have to be configured manually.

I'm not aware of any compatibility issues so far.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve,
Thank you for the reply and I appreciate its new but had not realised that new. Fine but at least its there are is going to be very good when sorted through.
I am not a computer specialist so please excuse me if I make mistakes but going for the first outing tonight I had problems with GF-166 in the combined unit  GF -ICCS which has nav and comms combined with 4 separate 166 panels. I have successfully had 1x com and 1x nav working but the secondary units mirror/reflect the first ones and I cannot rectify this so far. Maybe you could help me through this first and approach any others later on.
    Regards
    David

  • Hi David,

I have just checked and I actually did write default code for the 166 and the COM/NAV and ADF functions. All you need to do is select the device on the 166 tab and click either COM1&2, NAV1&2 or ADF1&2.

    Best wishes

    Steve
