Hello Steve

After installing the new 2.26 goflight config tool, GFIT with a green light for simconnect but a red light for goflight and it is non responsive. I have checked the exe.xml and dull.xml and every thing appears to be ok?

Thanks

  • Hi Terry,

I'm not seeing any problems with 2.26 on my system. Try uninstalling GIT and the Goflight Drivers, then reinstalling.

If no good, I need to know your op system, flight sim version.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hi Steve

I did a complete uninstall of both and then the new 2.26 and GFIT 18. Total lockup of GFIT as before. I even tried running with out the sim started and it still locked up. I can't check the log as program non responsive and I have to use task manager to close. I am running p3d v3 and I also have v2.5 installed. Win 7 64

Everything worked as it should prior to installing 2.26?

    Thanks

Try renaming the directory My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool so we can eliminate corrupt files.

    Thx

    Steve

  • The other thing to check is that the alert window about missing Goflight hardware is not hidden and this giving you the impression GIT has locked up when in reality its just waiting for you to click a button on the alert.

    Steve

  • Ok it started without lockup but simconnect not connected. Log say can't find gfdev.dll. I can't find either. Where should it be?

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Ok, your files are probably OK, you are simply missing gfdev.dll.

It should be installed by the Goflight Drivers. Did you install the drivers and GIT into the same directory? Make sure nothing to do with P3D or GoFlight is running when you do the installation.

  • Hi Steve

For what ever reason the gf config did not install. I installed again and now have the lockup again. I think it may have something to do with me having both 2.5 and 3 installed. I am going to try reverting back to 2.25 and see if I can get back to where I started.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • You can have 2.5 and 3 installed at the same time and they will both work - its how my system is set up.

  • Hi Steve

I uninstalled 2.26 and installed 2.25 with no other changes. Everything works as it used to. I think 2.26 is hosed somewhere somehow and if only change is for something I don't think I had a problem with, I think I will stick to 2.25.
What was the behavior in 2.25 that caused them to go to 2.26?

    Thanks

    Hi Terry,

The new drivers add detection for Prepar3D v3. If you do not use GFConfig and the Goflight Data Bridge (GFDevP3D.exe) then it will not make any difference.

Having said that, I have just installed the latest drivers and the latest GIT on my actual flight sim machine which is Windows 7 and it all worked flawlessly.

If you want to send me your config files I can test them on my system and see if something is triggering an odd bug.

  • Hi Steve

I do use gfdevp3d.exe. I manually added an entry in the exe.xml file to load it after I had installed p3d v3. If all 2.26 does is make that entry automatically, then I do not need it. Does 2.26 do anything else? Not sure if it matters but after installing 2.26 this morning I started it without anything else running to see if all my modules were showing up. I was checking everything and looked in file sim info and the path listed for p3d was to the v2 install and not the v3 install. I changed it to the v3 path. Later when it didn't work I put it back to v2 but no difference. Which config files do you want?

    Thanks
    Terry

  • Hi Steve

Files attached. Also there is a post on the goflight forum from someone having issue with 2.26. Can't tell if same as mine.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Upload didn't work. Sent via email. Also reading your posts on avsim, it looks like people were having problems starting as admin. I change the properties of all my sim related exe file to run as admin. I checked and both the 2.25 and 2.26 gfdevp3d files were set that way?

    Thanks
    Terry

    Thanks
    Terry
  • OK.

That's correct. 2.26.1 makes sure the flight sim starts as admin.

  • Hi Terry,

Just tried your files and they worked fine.

Lets just monitor the situation over the next few days and see if anyone else has the same problem, because at the moment I'm at a loss to explain it.

    Best wishes

  • Hi Steve

If it makes any difference, I just checked and with 2.26 installed p3dv3 running and the GFIT in a locked up state, the controls I have mapped via the goflight config tool still work. The radios work and the p8 buttons tied to pause all work? It is just GFIT that is locked?

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Hi Steve

See my comment re the post on goflight forum. That's ok with me, I am going back to 2.25.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Hi Steve,

I'm also suffering from 2.1.18.0 just hanging ... all red lights and perpetual cursor spinning.  It's actually not "hung" ... don't get the Not Responding messages, it looks more like it's stuck in an infinite loop.

    I'm running Win7 64bit with GoFlight 2.26.1.

.NET Framework 4.6 installed and current.

    I'm am running P3D V2.5 and V3.0.

    Windows updates all current.

I have all versions of SimConnect installed.

Emptied out Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool dir.

GIT is installed into the same directory as GoFlight.

    No errors in Event Viewer.

    No other tasks are running.

GIT is set to Run as Administrator.

If I go back to GIT 2.1.16.0, I get same issue with the only difference being I get two gray lights and one red light in GIT.

I went back to GF 2.26.0 and GIT 2.1.16.0 which used to work fine, now that no longer works either GIT locked up.

The ONLY item installed between all this was .NET Framework 4.6 which was triggered by the GIT 2.1.18.0 installer.

Unfortunately I'm now stuck with no GIT at all and can't seem to bring it back to life.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks Rob.

  • Hi Rob

If you go back to gf 2.25 and GFIT 18 it still hangs? Going back to 2.25 cured mine. Reading your post reminded me that I had also installed net framework 4.6. I still think it is something in 2.26.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Hi Terry,

I didn't try going back to GF 2.25 ... but GF 2.26.0 was working with GIT 2.1.16.0, but now I can't get that combo to work either?

I'll try GF 2.25 with GIT 2.1.18.0 tonight.

FYI, GF 2.26.0 and 2.26.1 does work with P3DV3 "by itself" ... no issues there.

    Cheers, Rob.

    Hi Rob,

Double check GIT is not displaying an error message about missing GoFlight equipment as this will give the appearance of a lock up.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Double checked just now, no error message is displayed.

I'll try going back to GF 2.25.0 ... what components of GF does GIT depend on?

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Hi Rob,

Just GFDev.dll. I'll look into this further, but it won't be until the tail end of the week.

    Thanks Steve ... quick update.

I was able to get GIT 2.1.18.0 working with GF 2.25.2 but none of the 2.26.x versions.

As you suggested I double check my .gfc files for GF entries (devices) no longer present ... I did find one entry TQ6, but after removing it still same issue when using 2.26.x.

Oddly GFConfig doesn't actually remove entries from the .GFC file that are no longer there (like my TQ6) ... I had to manually remove it.  Sadly that didn't seem to make a difference to GIT.

    Cheers, Rob.

  • Try this P3D GIT version:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/cp6yfqxhqtp0gov/GoFlightInterfaceToolP3D_Setup_2_1_18_1.zip?dl=0

If still no joy and you have Joystick support enabled, make a backup copy of My Document\Goflight Interface Tool and then untick Enable Joysticks on the Settings tab. Quit GIT and retry. Note Joystick configs will be lost, so restore from backup after testing.

    Thx

    Steve

  • Hello Steve

I installed 18.1 and ran with gf 2.25.0 and everything ok. Verified joysticks were not enabled. Uninstalled gf 2.25.0 and installed gf 2.26.1 and it works by itself but when I start git 18.1 it locks up the same as before where the mouse is a spinning circle and all parts are nonresponsive. Have to use taskmgr to close.

Not sure if this means anything, but even though the file downloaded from the goflight site says 2.26.1 when you start the gf config program and check the about menu item, it says 2.26 build 0. Also in the Windows control panel it is listed as 2.26?

For me all indications are a problem with the new gf file. Should I call them or you probably have better contacts than I.

    Thanks
    Terry
  • Thanks for trying that Terry.

    I'll get a new GFDev.dll built.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Install 2.26.1 and then replace GFDev.dll with this version:

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ag19mscw0thvgj4/GFDev.zip?dl=0

    Thx

    Steve

  • The gfconfig program wouldn't start with std Windows flight sim config has stopped working error. Went ahead and tried GFIT but same result.

    Thanks
