FSX/P3D/FSX SE Crashes on start up indicating an error with the Goflight Interface Module

After I installed pollypot my FSX game crashs with this error message

Flight simulator has detected a problem with a third-party software program (add-on):

Name:  <Unknown>
Version:   <Unknown>
Company: <Unknown>
File: C:\Program Files...\GoFlight Interface Module.dll

Do you want do run this software (not recommended)

When I select Yes game promptly crashes. I read this on FAQ below

FSX/P3D/FSX SE Crashes on start up indicating an error with the Goflight Interface Module

  1. Open regedit
  2. Go to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
  3. Delete the key "C:\\Games\\FSX\\fsx.exe"="$~ RUNASADMIN IgnoreFreeLibrary<Goflight Interface Module.dll>" obviously changing the underlined text to be your flight sim version and its location.

I'm not sure if this is where my problem is or not mine seems to be slightly different: I see two different C: folders one as RUNASADMIN and the other is IgnoreFreeLibrary.

C:\Program File...   REG_SZ                                $ IgnoreFreeLibrary<GoFlight Interface Module.dll>
C:\Program File...   REG_SZ                                RUNASADMIN

Value name:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight SimulatorXfsx.exe

Value data:
RUNASADMIN

other one reads

Value name:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight SimulatorX\fsx.exe

Value data:
$ IgnoreFreeLibrary<GoFlight Interface Module .dll>

I notice the first one is missing a \ between Xfsx.exe not sure if this is a problem or correct?

Comments

  • Remove them both to be on the safe side. When starting FS If you are asked to run the module even though it caused an error, say yes.

  • not a computer wiz so you want me to delete both of those? and that won't cause any other kind of problems?
  • No it won't, they are both referencing the GIT Module - its the only thing it will impact.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • I think that fixed it
