GF-ICCS - 1 or multiple USB ports ... and anything I need to check for XP11 compatibility?

Can someone tell me if GF-ICCS use just ONE USB port, or does it use 5 USB ports?

On the XP11 front, anything special I need to know for GIT XP ... just copy from plugins in XP10 to XP11?

Cheers, Rob.

  • Hi Rob,

I can't help you on the ICCS. In regards to XP11, yes that's all you need to do. Its got quirks about finding the correct directory which I'm working on now.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Thanks Steve, appreciate the rapid response.

I'll put a call into GoFlight folks for ICCS see what they say.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Rob--the ICS requires 5 USB 2 ports--

Ouch, but many thanks for the info ... appreciate it.

I'm currently running two USB PCIe cards in addition to motherboard USB ports ... there appears to be a limit (even with my powered hubs) ... I can only seem to get about 12 devices per "USB chipset" or else I get power cycle issues with GF modules.  Tried many ways to stop the power cycle (from registry hacks to you name it) but none have worked permanently.  ONLY moving to a 2nd (technically 3rd) USB PCIe card and distributing the load worked.

Doesn't seem to matter what mode I operate the USB chipset in (legacy or 3.x) ... I'm at 30 USB devices right now (26 are GF device), 5 more USB devices might push me back into power cycling again or I'll have to buy a 3rd USB PCIe card ... was hoping for just one USB port.

But thanks, this will cause me to go in a different direction in regards to which GF modules I plan to get.  I was planning to remove my two very old original black GF166A in favor of a single ICCS, but I think I'll just go with their newer GF-166 (gray) as they don't require GFFixer (reg hack) to get the displays to light up.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Rob--It took a while to identify the optimal number of necessary USB 2 ports.  I started with 5 and was able to finally settle on 2 USB ports.  The 4 NAV/COMMS are via a GF hub; the transponder is connected via a separate USB cable directly to the computer.  There were some bugs in identifying the device numbers of the NAV/COMMS--I had to reorder the USB "wiring/cables" on the back of the unit.  Since then, however, it has been a stable setup--Regards,
