SECM works erratic in prepar 3D

I have green lights including  simconnect/FSX

I select SECM but still doesnt work in Prepar 3D

I downloaded a A2A 182 profile, works the first time I press the buttons , then doesnt work.

I tried FSUIPC it recognized the switches of SECM but when I program them to do something, in the sim doesnt work.

  • You need to enable the SECM in GIT (pick device 0 in the drop down and then change to ENABLED).

I'm assuming you have clicked the Default FS button to pre configure the SECM? Once done, so long as the aircraft uses default Simconnect events and variables it will work OK. More advanced aircraft may need you to use and learn Detective and Bespoke Events.

The A2A profile only has an MCP PRO config - it will not help with your SECM.

If you still have problems, zip up My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool and attach the file here on the forum. Also tell me which default aircraft you are testing against and which function/switch is not working.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • Testing the Maule, everything works but only once then does not work anymore.
Ignition doesnt work even the first time.

A2A 182 ignition and flaps works once and then no more.

Under My Documents , the GoFlight folder has a temp folder that is empty also the A2A_C182 file,BeeskpokeEvents file,BespokeVariables file and settings file.
Which one would you like me to copy here?
  • That's very odd behaviour. Do the GoFlight drivers via GFConfig exhibit the same issue?

When you activate the switches for the second time, does the GoFlight LED in GIT flash?

What else are you running that could be interfering? E.g. FSUIPC. Have you tried disabling these add-ons temporarily?

Are you running the GoFlight Data Bridge at the same time as GIT with the SECM configured in GFConfig? If so, quit the Data Bridge or setup a config where the SECM does nothing in GFConfig and make sure its loaded.

Its the files in that directory I need.

    Thx

    Steve

  • Do the GoFlight drivers via GFConfig exhibit the same issue? YES When you activate the switches for the second time, does the GoFlight LED in GIT flash? No they stay green I have FSUIPC , will try disabling it. Exactly what is the name of the file you need?
  • That sounds like a hardware problem. When ever you flick a switch on the SECM the LED should flash from dark to light green or vice versa. Please double check by flicking one of the switches multiple times. If it only flashes the first time and not subsequently there is some low level problems such as the hardware itself or the device/USB hub locking up.
  • Lights do flash from dark green to light green and all 3 lights are green, I have pressed all the switches multiple times. Then I go to Prepar 3D start flying switches work the first time then no more, then I go to check the lights , all 3 are green, but now doesnt change color tone when using the switches.
  • OK, something is running in P3D which is intercepting or disabling the SECM's communication or the SECM is locking up. Disable FSUIPC, Linda, the GoFlight Data Bridge and anything else that intercepts Joysticks or GoFlight hardware and try again. Also, once the issue arises, does quitting P3D enable the GIT LED to work OK again when you flick one of the switches a few times? Thx Steve
  • Disabled FSUIPC , now any lights changed color, and any switch command worked, even after I exit prepar 3D.
  • Sorry, are you saying its working OK now? Thx Steve
  • Lights work but switches dont work in the sim.
  • Once the issue arises, does quitting P3D enable the GIT LED to work OK again when you flick one of the switches a few times? Thx Steve
  • No, once I quite P3D the lights dont work any more after the problem arises.
  • So the SECM has locked up. You do have it running on a USB2 port? If its on a hub does the hub connect to USB2 on the motherboard? USB3 will cause issues, it must be USB2 from the GoFlight hardware all the way back to the computer.
