Prepar3d v4?

Hi Steve:

I guess, somebody has to ask the question. It might as well be me.
Is there a timeline regarding the GFIT compatibility with the upcoming release of Version 4 of Prepar3d?
Rumour has it, that many developers are preparing patches and such for their Prepar3D v3 products.

Many regards,
Roberto

    Hi Roberto.

I guess I can discuss now the NDA is over. I'm on the Beta team for v4, but GIT still isn't working with it. So as for timelines, I have no idea at this point.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Hi Steve:

If you are on the Beta team, that is good enough for me!!
    "Just keep at it".

    Many regards, again,
    Roberto
  • I supose it depends if FSUIPC will be updated to V5

    Best regards
    Yves
  • No, GIT doesn't need FSUIPC. Support for LUA was added to GIT via FSUIPC but 99.999% of what GIT does is all our own code. The issue lies with GIT not getting any data back from the new 64bit GIT DLL.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Fingers crossed you can get it working in v4!
  • If you need any help Steve, let me know.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Hi,

There is a bug in the v4 SDK that is stopping the 64bit version of GIT from working. I'm waiting for LM to confirm and fix it.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Understand, I'll see if I can help in getting it some attention.

    Cheers, Rob.
  • Another developer is seeing the same problem as me now, which is good news I think: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6310&t=124789

    Thx
    Steve
  • Hi Steve, I got a response from Adam ... perhaps take this offline? You have my email? Cheers, Rob.
  • Adam has got back to me on the forum and I've sent a stripped down version of the code that is not working, so watch this space!

    Thx
    Steve

Ok, cool, yeah Adam was suggesting that perhaps somewhere in the references you were linking in a 32bit DLL ... they weren't able to replicate inhouse so hopefully they can look at your code ... recommend you zip up the C code using native C source file format. Zip files and/or "some" (not all) links seem to be ok with LM's mail filters, but they do NOT like excel or word docs and other formats (I believe those get filtered out by LM's mail servers).
  • Hi Rob,

Its not that simple I'm afraid - I have spent days crawling over the code looking for a silly mistake. Like the other developer who reported the same issue today, it works when you change the flag entries for Request Client Data, say on each visual frame, but the On Set flag doesn't work at all anymore. Once the flag is changed everything fires up. It's defo a bug in Prepar3D v4.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Does sound like a bug, I hope LM can replicate, but if LM can't repo, then no fix will be coming and that ultimately means a fire sale on all my GoFlight gear and look for alternate solutions. So have my fingers crossed.
  • They have a complete VS2015 DLL demo of the problem, they will see the issue I'm sure. If not, it means I will have to memory map the data, like I did for X-Plane. There will be a GIT 64bit one way or another.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Another two dev's including FS Labs have now confirmed this bug, so looking good for a fix from LM!

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Glad to hear it Steve, I was with Rob about to press the sell button on my MCP-PRO otherwise! :)

Thanks for your work on this.
  • Just heard that LM "believe they have isolated the issue", so hopefully the first patch to v4 will bring GIT to 64bit. Happy days! :)

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Excellent news. A few other issues LM have resolved also, hope they get a timely release ... I miss my buttons and knobs ... forgotten how to fly without them :)
  • Hello Steve:
    That is very encouraging news!
Just like Rob, I keep reaching to my GF set up and take a second or two to remember that this is P3Dv4 and not P3Dv3, and why "nothing is happening".
Looking forward to the L-M updates and your follow up!
    Many regards,
    Roberto
  • Get to work Steve ... HF1 (21593) ...

Fixed issue related to the flag SIMCONNECT_CLIENT_DATA_PERIOD_ON_SET not working with SimConnect_RequestClientData

    Cheers, Rob.

I have already done a quick test and the original exception error appears to be back again, although the dll test code I wrote works OK. I will check again tomorrow as its late here in the UK before making a final decision on whether its fixed or not.

    Best wishes

On a side note, the GF drivers trigger an error relating to FSX-SE which I don't have install, never had installed. Away from my PC right now in remote work location, but will try to RDP later and report to GF.
  • Got GIT working with v4 hotfix. I will get a release out for the hotfix version of v4 later today.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • OK, GIT for P3D v4 BETA is now available for download. It will only work with the latest Hotfix 1 Beta (4.0.24.21593) so only P3D beta testers should use this. :)

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • At the risk of sounding "uninformed", is this a release for Beta only?
I checked my downloads in my L-M's account, and only version 12468 is showing.
And, is the GIT new version identified in a particular manner? Again, I was not sure if I should just purchase/download the P3D option.
I apologize for the "silly" questions, but Steve knows me more than a decade and he is not surprised.
    Regards,
    Roberto

    Hi Roberto,

LM will be releasing a hotfix sometime this month. When the hotfix is out, you can download GIT P3Dv4 and it will work. Only Prepar3D Beta testers currently have access to the hotfix.

    Best wishes
    Steve

PS: You should see GIT P3Dv4.zip in your downloads list of your order. No need to purchase anything.
  • OK.
    Thx Steve.
I found the proper GIT (I am old enough to forget that I don't remember. I had to reset my password in the shop, and all is well)
I'll wait for L-M to release the hotfix.

    And, if I may.
Will we be able to, eventually, "migrate" our GIT settings in P3Dv3 to P3Dv4?

    Many regards,
    Roberto
  • Hi Roberto,

GIT shares the same settings files between all versions except for X-Plane, so everything you have configured will work automatically in v4.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Great!!
    Thank you
