New To TQ6 Advanced and the GIT

I am totally new to the GIT for my GF TQ6 Advanced Throttles for PMDG 737 NGX. Eventually got everything working by reading and/or trial and error. A very basic question please. Whilst I have exported the GIT TQ6 Configuration to the GoFlight Folder, the assignments and functions only work whilst the GIT is running. Is it necessary for the GIT to run or am I missing something here?
Be grateful for some guidance on this.

    Yes, GIT needs to run all the time you wish to control any GoFlight hardware. You can minimise it and it will go to the notification area of the taskbar.
