PMDG737 - Assign 4 Window Heat switches to one T8

Hi Steve. I'd like to assign the four Window Heat switches on the overhead to one T8 switch. I can't see how I can do this. Could you help please?

I'm running P3Dv5.3HF2 on Windows 10. Many thanks.
Cheers,
Ray (Cheshire, England)

  • Hi Ray,

    Use EVT_CLUSTER_WINDOW_HEAT

    Best wishes

  • Thanks Steve, much appreciated. I hope you’re feeling better and over your recent troubles. :)

    Hi Steve,

That command is also engaging Wing and Engine Anti-Ice. Is it possible for those to be excluded?

I understand from Pete Dowson that window heat was used on most flights but engine anti-ice is not used unless temps < 10C.

  • It doesn't. Checked the code. You must have something else doing it.
  • I did check the GoFlight software and nothing there. I’ll investigate tomorrow, thanks.

  • Hi Steve. I've checked BespokeEvents.xml, BespokeVariables.xml, Settings.xml and finally PMDG737.xml. Only the last file contains anything apertaining to the 737.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the command assigned to the T8 switch. Below is the entry in PMDG737.xml. Does that look okay?

The xml entry didn't make it so here it is again.

    Control ID="3" EVENTType="NGXEvent" EVENT="EVT_CLUSTER_WINDOW_HEAT" ACTIONType="EventCmd" ACTION="ONOFF" LIGHTType="NGXData" LIGHT="DATA_FWDOH_ICE_SWITCH_WINDOW_ON_LEFT_SIDE" LIGHTACTIONType="LightCmd" LIGHTACTION="ON" LIGHTVALUEType="Float" LIGHTVALUE="1" /

Open and close brackets removed to make the text visible.

  • Steve, I have two xml files relating to the 737 in my GIT folder. PMDG737.xml and PMDG.xml. They appear to contain the same info. Both seem to be required since renaming PMDG.xml results in the LEDs not working.

I’m at a loss why it works for you but not for me. Just to confirm it’s P3Dv5.3 I’m running. Hopefully this and the earlier info will show where the problem lies.

  • Hi Ray,

I have just confirmed in sim that only the window heat is going on and off in my test. I am using MOUSELEFT_WITH_OFF as the action, but I don't think that would have any impact.

You don't have something assigned in FSUIPC or some other product that is responding to the switch? It might be worth unassigning the event in GIT and see if the problem remains.

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Sorry, my bad. I thought you were running FS2020 because you said the PMDG 737 and not the NGX or NGXu. Let me double check.

Hi Steve, FSUIPC remains a possibility. I’ll check that tomorrow now. I rarely change these settings so memory can fade over a few years.

    It’s the NGXu in P3Dv5.

  • Checked with PD3v5 and the NGXu and only the window heat changes.

  • ;) Arrgghh!!! I had multiple commands in my fsuipc6.ini for that switch and others. Commenting the DeIce ones out and reloading the button commands solved it.

The deice commands were being actioned twice, once by GIT and once by FSUIPC.

I’d been using the really helpful guide by Paul Henty here and overlooked the possibility of a clash with GIT.

    Sorry for the confusion Steve.
