New computer - How to get GIT settings working?

Hi Steve,

I've bought a new computer for P3D v5.3HF2 and am slowly installing all my software. I've hit a problem trying to get the switches for my GoFlight T8 units working with GIT.

I've copied all the files from my old machine to the new one and they reside in GoFlight Interface Tool under MyDocuments.

I had to edit my GoFlight gfc files to get COM and NAV GF166s working and the two T8 units I have also needed editing as their actions were on the wrong units. Those for 0 went to 1 and vice-versa.

Can I just edit the entries in the relevant XML files to get the switches working or do I have to start all over again which would not be welcome. I've examined the entries but without your help I can't fathom out what I need to change.

Hoping you can help.
Cheers,
Ray (Cheshire, England)

  • Yes you can edit the XML files - Settings.XML, PMDG.XML and SettingsXPlane.XML.

You will see the GFT8 sections for each aircraft and then find <Device ID= entries and change the numbers to swap the device ID's.

Take a backup first, just in case!

    Best wishes
    Steve
  • Hi Steve,

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. Whilst I was waiting for your reply I started afresh with the Carenado PC12. It went fine eventually as I was a bit rusty not having used GIT for a few years.

But I now have a different problem with a specific aircraft. The Vertx DA-62. This was created for P3Dv4 but I had it working fine in v5 on my old machine.

But with the new computer something odd is happening and I can't resolve it. The main Battery switch uses the default TOGGLE_MASTER_BATTERY command. When I monitor Events that command gets called once. But when I add either a new Bespoke Event for that command or even just the Functions on the T8 Switches display it gets executed twice. So it keeps turning on than off instantly.

Any clues why that might be happening? I appreciate you might not have this aircraft but I'm mystified why the call would be executed twice. It's only called once when the aircraft battery button is pressed.

  • Have you checked its not configured in FSUIPC or GFConfig?
  • It happened when I clicked Test Bespoke Event so that bypasses FSUIPC etc.

  • This is what is happening Steve. Most odd.

  • If the Bespoke Event simply has the Send task in it, then it looks like the aircraft is over-riding the event for some reason. You could try settings the ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY variable to 1 instead.
  • Well done Steve! There wasn't that command in the Events but I had electricalMasterSwitch in the lvars. With a parameter of 1 it's turned the electrics on! :)

    Thanks very much!
