GIT 'frozen' on desktop

Running latest version of GIT without any problems...except very recently.

The GIT comes up on the desktop, but all of the tabs are un-clickable: Nothing is activated by the cursor. I've reinstalled, but same problem.

Thanks for sleuthing this.

  • Reviewing a past post I made with same problem, and Steve provided solution...i;ll try this again:

"It may be corrupt setting files. Rename My Documents\GoFlight Interface Tool to something else so GIT resets and try again.

    Best wishes

  • Well, I found the GIT folder inside "Documents" in the Library folder----it wasn't in My Documents.  Anyway, I renamed, but that didn't solve the problem.

    W7...FSX_SE...PMDG

I tried again, but still no luck: Renamed the GIT folder residing in Go Flight folder, but still the GIT tab box is unclickable.

Also  CHKDSK showed no problems.. Also, reinstalled.

Sequence of starting GIT: I've always started GIT...and then PMDG

  • Hi Doug,

    Sorry for the late reply.

If the UI is semi responsive (e.g. you can exit GIT or click about it may be that The GIT module is not running (usually indicated by lots of Out of Bounds errors).

There is an entry called in the FAQ called "FSX/P3D/FSX SE Crashes on start up indicating an error with the Goflight Interface Module" which is worth checking.

If its locking up completely you need the latest Goflight drivers available from the top of the forum installed into the GIT directory.

'tis locking up completely.   Seems like I did download the latest GF drivers for my new MESM module, but will check.

At one point, just before this latest post, the UI was moveable...and the only tab that would open was the Log, or System, I believe. I then copied it's loading content, but upon a restart lost that. Now, those tabs are not responsive.  Seems as though the Log indicated an error midway to loading  that referenced Simconnect and  something-like a 'circuitous path' ?
  • If you have a SECM and the old GFDev.dll is in the GIT installation folder it will lock up.

The drivers at the top of the forum are GoFlight's very latest unreleased drivers from a week or so ago. If those don't work, try these https://www.dropbox.com/s/qj9l968zsp7313p/GFConfigSetup_2_26_5.zip?dl=0

Its very important that GFDev.dll is replaced/updated, so uninstall the Goflight drivers before installing any other version.

Regarding the alert you posted on April 4th advising to use the 2.26.1 GoFlight driver, that didn't work for me with the SECM I had just added to my system (I had already installed the v2.7.x GoFlight driver prior to adding the SECM with P3Dv3.4HF3 on Win 10).   After a few reinstalls of the driver and GIT, I found I had to use the 2.26.5 drivers available in this thread. Also, Steve, when you write "so uninstall the GoFlight drivers before installing any other version", I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "other version".   Specifically, version of what:   GoFlight driver? (or GIT?). Don't mean to be picky, but if the latter, I personally would have written "before installing any other version of the GoFlight Interface Tool".  Anyway, I've got it working now... looking forward to a permanent fix involving the latest GoFlight driver.

Oh, one more suggestion.  On your GIT download page, please publish the current version number along with its release date.  I ended up downloading the "747" version twice (hoping there was an update to resolve my SECM problem).  Turned out there was no update (and I unfortunately burned up one of my downloads as a result).

Lastly, regarding the GIT X-Plane version; X-Plane 11 is brand new and I anticipate you will be releasing quite a few updates as development progresses.  Do you think 10 downloads for the purchase cost is fair?  Perhaps allowing the same quantity as for the FSX/P3D version would be better...

    Thanks for listening!

  • Hi Tim,

The 2.26.1 drivers had a SECM bug, so GoFlight provided me with 2.26.5 which only this website provided. Looks like I have posted the 2.26.1 drivers up by mistake when putting up the alert. Well spotted.

The latest versions and release dates are always listed here: http://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/update-news-rss-feed.html

The download count is reset whenever a new version is posted. You can also ask to have it reset. Its only there to restrict casual software piracy.

I don't see any major GIT for X-Plane updates in the near future. No-one is reporting any problems.
