Error Message
I am trying to install the Flyengravity CDU version 1 to be used with P3DV4.1 and PMDG NGX. I installed the interface with no problems and seems to be working, except for an error message. The error message that pops up is
FSX ini file not found. PMDG options file cannot be checked/updated.
If I click OK, It shows me that sim connect is green, and the aircraft is PMDG 737-800NGX but after 3 seconds the error message pops up again. Nothing displays on the Flyengravity CDU.
When I plug in the CDU, it powers up, and says test OK, then goes blank. The model I have does NOT have colour or a VGA port, just a power cord and USB. The only numbers on the back of the unit are B0570773 00066
Why is there an FSX error, when I am using P3DV4.1 and my PMDG version is for P3DV4? I have FSX installed on the same computer, but not open. The only program open is P3DV4.1
I thank you in advance for any kind of assistance that will guide me to getting the CDU working.

The error message looks like a bug. You must be the first person running the software without FSX and P3D installed. I will get a fix out this week.
However, the error should only appear a couple of times and not stop the software from working. Please read the FAQ here and make sure you start everything up correctly: https://www.pollypotsoftware.org.uk/support/user-guide/engravity-cdu-pmdg-interface/26-installation/71-faq-engravity-cdu-pmdg-interface.html

I do have both FSX and P3DV4.1 installed on my computer. I went into the SDK as per the FAQ and there was no line that said EnableCDUBroadcast=1, so I added it in manually. I also powered up the unit with USB cable first, then the power cable. It did not help. The same FSX Ini file Not found error message is still there. I pressed OK around 5 times, but the error message kept coming back, and then gave up. Your help in getting this resolved would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
Try using the FSX version of the interface when running P3Dv4 and let me know if it works. I will still get a fix out this week.
Thx
Steve
Can you tell me what the exact error message is please.
Thx
Steve
The error message I receive (d), is FSX ini file not found. PMDG options file cannot be checked / updated.
I have it now where the error message no longer comes up. All three dots are in green. Engravity CDU 0 (Green), Simconnect (Green), The aircraft is PMDG 737-800NGX WL (Green). Settings CDU 0, Comm port =Com3, 38400 Baud Rate, Position left, Emulation CDU737
Disconnect time out 10000, Time out threshold 6, Never disconnect CDU (checked), Display delay time 100, Standard Text style bold, Colour text style Underlined, disabled text style Std, reverse text style inverse.

On the CDU itself, It powers up, goes into standby mode, so the screen is blank. If I press EXEC + S, the CDU goes into set up mode. All the buttons light up, the screen displays the set up ( Baud rate 38400, CDU type 737 NG). If I press the LSK key to exit setup, it does, and the screen goes blank, or dark again.
To me it looks like the hardware is fine, the interface software is fine, they are just not working together.
Once again your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rob
P.S. I am using Engravity CDU PMDG interface P3D Version 2.0.0.0
I have put up a 64bit version of the interface for use with P3Dv4+. Let me know if that sorts out your issues.
You can download it from your account in the normal way.
Best wishes
Steve
Do I need anything else from Engravity to get the CDU to work IE: specific drivers or software, or is everything built in to your interface tool?
Thanks

It still does not work, though I believe that the unit may NOT be connecting to Com3. I have another unit, VR insight overhead display. When that unit is plugged in to the USB port I believe it uses Com3. With VR insight plugged in, but not turned on, everything shows fine with the Engravity Pollypott Software 64 bit I just downloaded, (all 3 buttons green), though there is still no display on the Engravity unit. If I unplug the VR insight USB Cable, and reboot the computer with Only Engravity CDU, the Pollypott Engravity software comes up all red. No connectivity. If I go into Device manager, only Com 1 is being used, not com 3.
Can you help me figure out how to get Engravity on to Com3, or even another Com port, in order to get it to work? As mentioned above, is there any software from Engravity that I should have installed first, ie Drivers etc...?
I thank you again for your help so far.
Rob
